14 Things You Didn’t Know About Disney

Who doesn’t know Disney? They create children’s movies and TV shows. They seem nice, but they also have a dark side.

  1. During the New York premiere of Pinocchio in 1940, Walk Disney hired 12 midgets to dance in Pinocchio outfits on the theater marquee. Whats wrong with that you ask? well, they were all drunk and required to be for the job.
  2. Walt Disney mainly used music from dead composers for a soundtrack for Fantasia so he wouldn’t have to pay royalties.
  3. Even though Walt Disney had a strict policy against drinking on the studio grounds, but that didn’t stop him from having a few shots every day.
  4. Walt Disney was an anti-Semite, meaning he disliked jewish people.
  5. there are tunnels beneath the magic kingdom. They were primarily meant for travel throughout the park, but they are only used for service now, but the entrances are still open to the public, so who knows what is down there? for one thing, rats. many sections of the tunnels are closed off because of rats infesting the place.
  6. Disney can truthfully declare that they have never had a death in their park. Why? because they claim that the person who is fatally injured is not declared legally deceased until they reach the hospital.
  7. A child found a man in a character suit with the head off, and disney sued. Believe it or not, this is true. Disney does not hesitate because without the head on, spectators can see the top-secret aspects of the suit.
  8. Disney conducted a research that showed that every seven seconds a man thinks about sex. Disney allegedly puts saltpeter, which lowers a man’s sex drive, into their food. This might be true, but ever wonder why Disney has a policy in which male employees must either eat at the company or take a one-seventh pay cut for “Frequent distractions.”
  9. In the train station at Disney parks, you can hear a tapping noise. This is Walt Disney’s 1954 Opening day speech in morse code.
  10. In the Enchanted Tiki Room, there is a show, and if you wait around for a few minutes after the show ends, you will see one of the birds start to insult other birds and you.
  11. Disney animators often reuse animations to save on time and money. You would think “Whats wrong with that? a few repeats, so what?” However, there are far more than you would suspect. the following is a link to examples.
  12. Before Disney had parking structures, the parking attendants would always park old people’s cars and hearses in the same area.
  13. If you have ever been to Disneyland before, you might notice that the park does not have much gum on the rides and walls. Why? You can’t buy gum in Disneyland. Walt Disney didn’t want to spend money to have it cleaned up all the time.
  14. During the Vietnam war a group of hippies protested on Main street. The park security rounded them up, gave them haircuts and part-time jobs as janitors.

This is very interesting. Though you had few spelling errors of Walt Disney’s name here and there, I just find it’s a little funny XD No hard feelings. But the facts are really interesting to know…they must have had a frugality theory policy somewhere in the company’s goals and objective, nothing unusual bout that, perhaps only on how they exercise their plans towards it.

The characters cannot expose their real-self [not because of revealing secrets] because it would ruin the fantasy of a child.
The tunnels are still is use as they were intended. For characters and service people to come and go without notice.

I used to work for Disney (Orlando). There is no pay deduction for not eating on property. It is however really inconvenient to try to leave and get back in any reasonable amount of time. The tunnels under MK do have some rats in them, especially near the restaurant areas where the garbage is dumped. But for the most part they are very clean and they are home to the annual pargo parades and fun employee things like the cafeteria, costuming, and lockers.

Little known fact that in “Aladdin” when he was flying up to the princess in the tower when she was pissed at him you can hear a subliminal message in a whisper that says…”take your clothes off”. I heard this very clearly from a guy who called in and played it over a radio station in LA because he finally figured out why his 2yr old would always end up naked every time she watched the movie.

I worked at D-land back in the 1970s. I heard of a hot dog vendor that was fired for embezzlement. This was because he ate an expired hot dog- unused after a day’s sales- still encased in foil. He had previously deposited in a dumpster, picked it out of the dumpster (wrapped in foil) and ate after closing hours.

The Disney folks and their lawyers will attack anyone who impose on their copyrights, not to mention if say anything bad about their company’s practices. I must be careful because they can still track me.

Much of this is very untrue. For one, plenty of people have been declared dead at Disneyland. Also, Disney was sued by the family of the kids who saw the person with the costume head off, not the other way around. And there is no evidence to support the anti-semite claim. I haven’t checked out the rest of this, but I’m betting it’s mostly bunk, too.

“I can pay $X a song for an entire musical, or I can use classical music that isn’t copyrighted for free. I think I’ll go with the X-dollars-a-song thing, because in a capitalistic society, it’s wrong not to pay money.”

Walt Disney was conceived in a town called Mojacar in Spain, his father was the local doctor and his mother was the lady who cleaned. On finding herself pregnant she immigrated to the States, the rest we know. It was curious when he died a number of lawyers came to Mojacar with the task of removing any evidence, it would not be good for Disney if the founder were born out of wedlock.

Couple true ones in there, but not many.

The bit about deaths isn’t as sinister as it’s made to sound. People can be declared dead at the scene of an accident, but only if they’re actually dead – if people left the park alive and died at the hospital, they can make the claim that they’ve never had a death in the park. Disney doesn’t make the claim that they’ve never had a fatal accident at the park.

    A real #16 for you
“Cast Members” (employees) are strictly not allowed to remove any part of their costume while on stage (i.e. anywhere in the park).

How strict is this? To wear a costume you pretty much agree that if anything happens to you that they will not remove the head to administer first aid/CPR.

A lot of this isn’t true, but it is true that disney isn’t that happy company everyone thinks they are. Disney heavily discriminated against woman and other groups in the early days, refusing to give them jobs even when pressed for help.

  54. Former Disney Employee

Actually, some of this is true. The whole dying in Disney, is very true. Disney has it’s own Government, and one of the statutes says that legally a man can not be pronounced dead on the premises of Disney’s property, once they are taken out of Disney they are pronounced dead.

I did a really big research paper on this in college. Some books to look up are “Inside the Mouse” and “The Mouse that Roared”, they have so much stuff on Disney.

And some reasons they don’t go into to much detail about it on the History Channel is because they are owned by Disney.
