50 Ways to Stop Nuclear Power
A study conducted about the disadvantages of nuclear power.
The UK government continues to support efforts to build more Nuclear Power Stations, but at a significant environmental cost. These plants emit tens of thousands of tones of radioactive waste, which in turn, remains radioactive for at least 1 million years! As a direct result, the environment is heavily polluted now adding more emissions to the atmospher will only further add insult to injury.
We are going to look at a few of the alternatives to the Nuclear Power Stations; one of those solutions is getting informed about Nuclear Power. This can be easily accomplished by researching on your favorite search engine to find the pros and cons of Nuclear power and the waste it produces. One such site is Electricity Info. This site explains how and why switching to a renewable specialty energy company, such as GEM, (Green Electricity Marketplace) will apply green tariffs to allow these specialty companies to compete with other industry leaders. A word of caution, check with your current provider before switching, they maybe using another format to produce the green electricity that you are currently using.
Besides switching to a Green form of electricity there are several things you can do to decrease your energy consumption. The easiest and perhaps the most beneficial way to reduce emissions is switching incandescent light bulbs. By replacing one bulb in the home, will decrease your energy useage by as much as F60 throughout the life of the bulb. These energy efficient bulbs last ten times longer than the incandescent bulbs. Saving more money for the consumer. Along these same lines the consumer can decrease their energy useage by not placing television, videos, stereos, computers, and cordless phones on standby.
Other products can be purchased to help decrease energy use is when it comes time to replace a refrigerator, washing machine, freezer, clothes dryer with environmentally friendly ones. For example; the clothes dryers can be powered by the Sun, so can water heaters, boilers, and Solar PV (Photovoltaic) equipment that utilizes the energy of the sun to produce electricity to run the appliances and lights for your home.
There are other systems to choose from to reduce energy costs. These systems range from Micro-hydro Systems, Biomass Heating Systems, Microgeneration Systems, to Wind Generators. With a little information a customer can choose the best option for them and for the environment. Simply by switching from Nuclear Power to Hydro or Solar Power will ensure that our environment will begin to heal itself of the damage that carbon emissions have thus far created.
Thank you.
