5th June – World Environment Day

Do we really know our planet? Do we care for it? I watched a film “HOME” – by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and would recommend it to everyone.

This is the movie everyone should watch and take time to think about.

It’s not that we do not know those things, but it’s just the way all important questions and facts are put together. With footage from over 60 countries you just have to see it all trough. It’s interesting of how the Earth’s problems are all interlinked. One problem raise another one and it all go around and around. Do we know that Earth is actually small place with limited resources. One day we are going to use it all.

We can watch on TV, how there are still opponents of wind power. Nevertheless, we still have people who discard garbage in woods, although they have all chance for free waste disposal.

Photography in film is perfect. Story is well put together and is a little shocking on moments.

Some of the facts:

  •  There is more and more rivers that do not flow into the sea anymore and this is all just because excessive water consumption.
  • Did you know that in many countries where their is only sun and deserts they do not use solar cells for energy production?
  • Did you know that the sun sends to earth a day as much energy as it consumes in one year?

….For more I suggest you should check their site www.goodplanet.org or watch the movie.

Despite the pessimistic beginning, at the end of the movie you can see optimistic ending. There is possibility to live with nature and there can be reasonable exploitation of natural resources within the limits of normal.
