A Necessary War
A Global look on global warming standpoints and facts. Also ways to curb carbon emissions.
If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth man would have 4 years of life left.
-Einstein “On The Bee”
We as a country are in a climate crisis. Slowly inexorably seas and temperatures are rising. This process is known by many as global warming. Before we move forward we must acknowledge one thing, global warming is real. The some 300 glaciers in Glacier National Park have become 27 and shrinking. Lake Chad’s water level has fallen by 17 feet due to evaporation and for the first time ever a complete passageway has been cleared around the Arctic Circle. Global Warming is real and it is happening NOW! As you probably know America and other countries, are polluting their environment. What you don’t know is how much. The EPA estimates a total of 500,000,000 tons of pollutants and Co2 are released into the biosphere every year. These wastes come from high demand for energy and household chemical articles such as: batteries, bleach, water softener, disinfectant spray, and tile and grout cleaners. These with research, could be made cleaner, more effective and less polluting.
As one of the multiple side effects of global warming is the extinction of 17 new species a day due to unstable climate shifts. Keep in mind that one species of plants or animals could hold the cure to cancer or terminal illnesses. For example the barbed sea sponge contained an antidote for a rare version of leukemia. So now that we have acknowledged the problem we must fix it.
`You may have seen campaigns or flyers advertising against E-Waste or maybe using CFL light bulbs. While these are effective on small insignificant levels, the next step is to pass an energy bill so groundbreaking and efficient it puts a stop to the greenhouse effect by 2020. The Greenhouse Effect, is the steam engine behind Global Warming. When Co2 is created by burning fossil fuels such as oil Carbon 2 Oxygen rises into the atmosphere eating the ozone layer and blanketing earth in a deep layer of heat because Co2 traps sunlight, turning it into heat. Without Co2 earth cools down or at least regulates temperate climate. This would enormously benefit the wildlife of the world and save us from catastrophe.
So if we as a nation passed a bill to cap Co2 emissions, the greenhouse effect would stop before causing major damage. We would avoid deforestation, coral bleaching and energy loss if we invested large funds to the creation of green energy produces such as, windmills, dams, solar panels and many others.
