A Study in Green Development and Funding Today
by Developing alternative energy solutions and some of the problems of funding them.
Lets build a background first for this case study. Take an executive who has a green love past , present, and future. Take a mid career change to be able to work on Alternative energy, Take a background in accounting, Law, Engineering, development and construction. Now lets look at creating an alternative energy solution.
We trust that alternative energy is wanted since it is publicized everywhere. We assume that solutions are welcomed because this is what we all need. we believe funding is available because our (The public) research has been requested ( Television,Radio, Politicians ) and the like. But the question is are we wrong??
There are quite a few energy system out there that can power all of the individual energy needs of an individual residential consumer, however, most if not all of these systems shortly after being discovered have either become purchased by big companies (or the inventors bankrupted, destroyed or worse) or have become the property of governments through their loan programs.
Recently we looked at a company that wanted to get a system funded, it is capable of delivering all of the energy that a residence could need, and the need of the company was initial round funding approximately 2 million dollars. It is interesting that it is easier to get two million than two hundred thousand and in todays world both appear to be near impossible (even in the Hot alternative energy markets). The interesting part is that their were companies lined up around the corner to fund second round funding, the government loan programs require that you give up patents, intellectual property and other things depending upon the agency and field of study. Banking institutions are taking applications but funding little and when we look at what has been funded out of the trillions of dollars allocated it is in the low millions. (and most of this is to huge conglomerates that were working the government system years before now.) But what have we forgotten?
Energy is a currency that is utilized among nations, any development of any system that can move that energy around is similar to (or in actuality is ) like changing power structures, imaging if no one needed oil because they had a free fuel source – people would pay to have that not developed. The same happens in alternative energy as local governments have not passed or written green implementation rules (at a level that most contractors can use) state governments and federal governments view alternative energy as something to be controlled and moved into over time so as to minimize disruption of current economies and power structures .
Funding will be an overall reality when funding, control, and structure over the players,developers and or inventors is achieved.
Remember Energy is a world currency, and changing who holds that currency only happens with permission.
