All Children Should be Environmental

This coming Christmas limit your electronic purchases for your children.

Teaching our children to be environmental is our duty as a parent. They need to understand how important it is to recycle, compost, and reuse all items. To limit their carbon footprints as much as any adult is supposed to do.

If you have not started that as of yet, it is never too late to begin doing so. This Christmas season is a great time to start this wonderful learning experience with your children, nieces or nephews, or neighbors children.

 Limit Electronics

Limit the amount of electronics you purchase your children, since they do end up in the landfill when they are beyond use or broken. Finding second hand electronics is also another option. Pawn shops, second hand stores and garage sales have an abundance of second hand electronics. Purchase rechargeable batteries, and a solar charger. Many locations now are also taking your old used batteries and recycling them. However, reusable batteries and a solar charger is a better option then the other type of batteries.

 Board Games

Get back to using board games with the family. These can last so many years, and really brings the family together for social reasons. It is also a very environmental choice, since it is not running on any sort of power or emitting carbons. You can also take a step further by researching the company and what sort of products it used to make the games.

 Natural Crafting

Natural crafting is a wonderful solution for children to be occupied with their time. Recycled products like paper, and natural twine can make a wonderful gift this coming season, or any season for that matter. During the warmer months, grab some fallen leaves, pine cones, even some grass to dry.

 Recycle and Reuse

Teach your children that recycling their unused toys is a great way to contribute to the environment. Let them choose which ones they wish to donate, and reward them with picking up a toy at the Good Will. Try to reuse the toys in a variety of ways, get creative by finding other options on how to use them.

These are only a few suggestions to get your children interested in the environment. Give them incentives and rewards. Take them to the nearest landfill and show them what it looks like, and how every bit counts and matters.

This coming Christmas reconsider your gifting options of an overabundance of electrical and electronic devices, and keep it as green and simple as possible.
