Animal Cruelty

We all know there are many cases of animal cruelty. Just watch Animal Cops. Plus there are still cases of animal testing going on. Like the nicotine experiments conducted by Eliot Spindle at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland Oregon. I watched something last night that really disturbed me. It was this show called IDA Undercover TV. They were doing a show on animal cruelty. It showed how animals in that are in the circus and other traveling shows are treated behind the scenes. And let me tell you it’s not good. It made want to go out and find these people and beat them with the hooked sticks, similar to a fireplace poker, which they used on the animals.

These animals are so abused. Gandhi once said”The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. I guess we’re not as good as we thought we were. I’m surprised God hasn’t struck us all down with lighting. I couldn’t believe that people in this country would mistreat animals so bad. The animals are forced to perform and in the videos you could tell they didn’t want to. They are carried from city to city in trailers with no ventilation, even when it’s over 100 degrees. And some animals like lions and tigers are kept up to 6 in a cage with no room to move.

Circus and carnival animals aren’t the only one’s mistreated either. Have you been to a rodeo lately? Apparently Spain isn’t the only country that mistreats bulls. Even though, bull fighting is far worse than bull riding. In the end they all get what they deserve.

People wonder why some of these animals go crazy and go on a rampage stomping or attacking everything in sight. Wouldn’t you if you were abused the way they are. It’s the same as a wife being beaten and then finally snapping and shooting her husband.

Then Again zoos aren’t that great either. Just look at the IDA’s top ten worst zoo for elephants list.

If you read about what’s going on at these zoos you will, as I do now, realize that animals are not meant for performing. Especially elephants they end up having foot diseases, elephant herpes virus, or even worse end up dying due to the way they are treated.
