Betta Fish Cruelty Unknown

All the pet stores say Bettas can live in small tanks. They can live, but that doesn’t mean they want to.

I went to buy a betta fish the other day and there were small tanks that said they were ment especially for bettas. I looked at them and thought, “wow that’s smaller than my hand.” Its true, and I know you have seen these to, Bettas can live in small tanks like these but that doesn’t mean they want to. I did research and most bettas need AT LEAST a two gallon tank to be happy. A smaller tank means that the waste of the fish builds up in that small area and the fish also doesn’t have enough room to freely swim around. Just like humans, if you put one of us in a big cardboard box with food, we could live, but it wouldn’t be a happy life. I wanted to raise awareness that bettas should be treated more humanly by being given bigger tanks. I bought a two and a half gallon tank so she would be happy. Please, if you ever buy a betta, remember to buy it a 2 gallon tank or more! Thank you!
