Bigger Tanks to Prevent War on Water
Conservation of water via concrete tanks and the need for action in the near future.
Melbourne water storages have increased 1.1 per cent in the last month due to an average rain fall of 122mm and the conscientious use of water. Although the wettest months are yet to come, August thru October, production of concrete water tanks will not increase.
Raymond Reeves, owner and Managing Director of concrete tank company Everlast, states that “people don’t usually buy when it is raining. They will buy when it is 40 degrees on Christmas Day”. Although Everlast is based in regional Albury, Everlast’s primary market is Melbourne, “concrete tanks are more urban as they are designed to go in the ground… land is valuable and room is minimal”.

People are more aware of water conservation now as never before but they are still not taking enough practical measures and consigned water tanks are not as big as they should be. Ray, a veteran of the industry for over 37 years has a motto that he earns a living by: “the wars of this century were fought mainly over oil, wars of next century will be over water”.
