Change is Coming

The United States is going to have new president. There was a sign that said it best “Bush your fired”. It’s about time. Obama’s acceptance speech was the most sincere and well spoken speech that there has been in a while. November 4th 2008 will go down in history as a day that changed the world. Not only were there people rejoicing in the U.S., but around the world. It was an emotional time for those who have waited for this moment for centuries.

The United States has been a land of dreams for many generations. But everyone has not always treated equally. Now when our children ask us if they can be anything when they grow up we can honestly look them in the eye and say yes you can. The possibilities are endless. Dreams will actually have a possibility of coming true. Equality actually has a meaning now.

There are those that are not happy with the majorities’ decision. The votes said it all. He won by a landslide. Surprisingly they called it fairly quickly. Those that do not approve of our new president elect I’m sure he will earn your trust. Just give him time. Every president has to earn the trust of the United States citizens. The United States has had many disappointments. Presidents have lied in the past. Some have been impeached and some that should have been weren’t. Things are not always perfect. For those who didn’t want him to win the right person for the job has to get it every once in a while.

Though there might be the few that think race was the reason he won. I want to know why the other 75% of the United States population voted for him. There have been people arrested recently that wanted to assassinate him already. That shows that racism is still around, but hopefully that will change. We need to show the rest of the world that this country has overcome prejudice. That it’s a new day and the past is the past. It’s out with old in with the new. This election has shown that racism will not take over.

Change has finally come to America. Obama brings a new meaning to the slogan yes we can. All our voices will be heard now. It is time for this country to rise up. Time for this war, which has cost so many lives, to come to an end. Time for our country to get back up on its feet. Time for this country to show others that anything is possible. It’s time for change.
