China & South Korea: Heartless with Animals

by Vibhor Sharma Kaushal in Activism, June 21, 2009

I firmly believe and say that China & South Korea are heartless countries. That’s because one needs to see, as to what they do to poor innocent, voiceless defenseless animals.

They skin, boil, burn, beat, crush and kill all types of animals, birds and reptiles, ranging from fishes, turtles, chicken, pigs, turkeys, rabbits, puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, cows, raccoons, alligators, snakes and all the other types of animals that have ever existed in the animal dictionary.

These countries, despite knowing that they are being hated and boycotted by a large group of individuals (Animal Activists/ Animal Lovers) worldwide, don’t want to improve themselves. They open heartedly want to continue this massacre of brutally butchering animals instead of stopping or reducing it. Innumerable efforts have been made in the past few years by various Animal Rights Organizations against this wretched treatment and slaughter of thousands of animals in China and South Korea, but it has not been fruitful.

Both the Governments of these two countries pay no attention to protests, letters and petitions sent to them by concerned individuals or even celebrities. They fold a blind eye towards this ‘particular issue’ and plan to do so for the years to come, even if that means financial losses to their tourism industry, and various other aspects of concern to their respective countries.

Regardless of the fact that nastily killing animals by their choicest of methods provides these countries with Fur, Leather, Bones, Skin and Meat, it is nowhere in contrast to the cruelty and brutality endured to the animals. Every animal has the full right to a full normal life, they too has feelings, emotions and a body which comprises of all the same parts which are ballooned in Humans. Then why are they being “Raped” so brutally, off their own flesh.

Coming to what the issue was, pertaining to China and South Korea; I feel it is disgusting and deplorable that in one country Dogs and Cats are considered as “Companion Animals and Pets” and are used as methods to improve physical and mental states of individuals suffering from ailments such as depression, panic attacks etc., and in another country they are skinned alive, burned and even boiled alive to be made into market viable products or to be eaten in main-course dishes.

It is pathetic and whimsical to say and cheer what a success the Beijing Olympics 2008 were, whereas the hidden truth of China’s gory and violent animal slaughter, butchery and bloodbath still continues till date. It’s about time that the responsible governments of China and South Korea look into this horrific and ghastly affair in order to protect their “mage” globally, if not being even 1% concerned or thoughtful regarding the welfare and well-being of innocent, nave and voiceless animals.

Please note:- Despite recent protests by thousands of concerned activists/ organisations, more than 30,000 dogs(including pet dogs) have been brutally slaughtered (some of them burned alive) in the Hanzhong City of China. This was conducted by the government after a few cases of rabies deaths, came to light. Though there are NGO’s like the IFAW- International Fund for Animal Welfare and KAPS- Korean Animal Protction Society, who are doing their best to improve the conditions, standards and treatment of animals but there is little what can be said about the future of animals in countries like China and Korea.
