Clean Up America: Top Five Biggest Polluters

The five biggest polluters in the US. It’s time to put a halt on dumping hazardous pollutants into our environment. These companies are not going to fold, but should be made to employ environment cleaning methods to help vacate pollutants from the air we consume.

This century the world has became aware of the need for cleaner energy. Seemingly, there is new technology everyday on alternative energy. The BP oil spill has even farther displayed on the world stage the need to clean our environment.http://www.planethazard.com the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District is the top polluter in the United States.

The hideous BP oil spill has received the spotlight and the news media has reported the failures and the progress to the world. It is a newsworthy event that affects the very fabric of our public health.

The oil spill is a visual display of how our environment is affected by callous, greedy, big business. Their effort to make large sums of money while not applying the surest, most reliable equipment, has given the world a first handed, detailed visual exploit of the magnitude that a manmade environmental disaster creates.

We must understand that the time for clean energy is now. It is time for the world to focus upon every resource to move our energy needs away from fossil fuels.

Everyday across the world many businesses are polluting the earth in a magnitude that rivals the BP spill. Though not in the national spotlight, their damage to the environment is just as compelling.

Sarcastically, I thank California for giving us the two top polluters in the US. I know California has many green initiatives and are leading the country in many alternative energy areas. But are they doing enough?

Burney Forest Products comes in at the second biggest polluter in the US. Their annual emissions is 452,615,399.90 with 20 pollutants from 36 different sources.

Burney Forest Products is a large sawmill and biomass energy plant located in Burney, CA.

Georgia Power Company, Bowen Steam-Electric Generating Plant comes in third. The Bowen Stem-Electric Generating Plant generates electricity from the use of fossil fuels.

Natural History Magazine in 2006, released a report that the plant was the single largest point-source for carbon dioxide emissions in the US. It was the only power plant in the US. To rank in the world’s top 25 Carbon Dioxide producers.

Georgia Power operates fourteen fossil fuel power generating plants, along with two nuclear energy producing plants.

Intel Corporation designs, manufactures, and sells integrated circuits for computing and communications industries worldwide. It offers microprocessor products used in notebooks, netbooks, desktops, servers, workstations, storage products, embedded applications, communications products, consumer electronics devices, and handhelds.

Intel’s Rio Rancho Facility wraps up the 4th spot. No doubt, many of us have Intel’s products in our computers and contribute to the pollution in New Mexico. It seems Intel would rather circumvents regulations instead of putting money into making their plant less horrific to the environment.

Intel annual emissions is 409,126.00 with 20 pollutants from 61 sources.

NO:5

Pennsylvania rounds out the top 5 with a coal fired power plant located Shelocta, Pennsylvania. The Keystone Power Plant is owned by Reliant Energy. The BP oil spill has killed untold numbers of fish, The Keystone Power Plant had a little spill that killed some fish, as well.

The Keystone Power Plant annual emission levels are 403,284,644.74 with 77 pollutants from 198 sources.

Let’s leave the planet green for our future generations to enjoy. Alternative, clean, or green energy is the choice that has to be made. Change is slow but forthcoming. We have to use the BP incident to channel the course for our clean world. If left unchecked our planet will die!
