Climate Change

Climate change and how it is caused.

Climate change is any long-term change of the average climate in Earth. The causes of climate change include the greenhouse effect, large volcanic eruptions, and changes in Earth’s orbit.

The Earth’s climate changes when energy stored by the climate system is changed. The most important changes happen when the global energy balance between incoming energy from the Sun and outgoing heat from the Earth is upset. Some of the natural mechanisms that can upset this balance include alternations in the Earth’s orbit and changes in the structure of the Earth’s atmosphere.

The effects of climate change are already taking effect. The impacts of climate change include increased temperatures, higher sea levels, changes in rainfall patterns and increased storm and cyclone intensity. The natural environment is weak to climate change, especially if the changes in climate are rapid.

The present cause of climate change, the greenhouse effect, warms up the planet and allows humans to live on Earth. For millions of years, water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases came about naturally, heating the atmosphere and making Earth habitable. But over the years more and more of these gases in the atmosphere have been trapping too much the heat in between Earth and the atmosphere and not allowing the heat to escape, therefore increasing the average temperature of earth, this process is called global warming.

Humans contribute to climate change by burning fossil fuels, transport and water usage. Burning fossil fuels, driving cars and trucks and flying aeroplanes all emit carbon dioxide (CO2); carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gases. In the past years carbon dioxide levels have increased resulting in global warming.

But we can prevent climate change and stop global warming by using less electricity, burning less fossil fuels and using environmentally friendly transport like, cars that’s only emit water not carbon dioxide. By preventing climate change Earth would be a safer planet to live on.

Climate change can be caused by many things including greenhouse gases, global warming, burning of fossil fuels and large volcanic eruptions. Climate change can result in increased temperatures, increased sea levels and stronger storms and cyclones. But we can prevent climate change by being environmentally friendly.
