Crushing Crush Films
WARNING: This talks about cruelty to animals in a way not appropriate for young children.
Things happen in the dark corners of life that most of us do not want to know about. Crush Films are one of those things. Most of us like to think animal torture and cruelty like I will describe only happens in countries such as China, but I assure you, this bizarre fetish is something that exists in the United States, the United Kingdom, and yes, even Canada.
Please, do not continue reading if you are at all sensitive to crimes against animals and are under age. This is not a pretty subject.
In a typical Crush film, a woman, often wearing stiletto high heeled shoes, crushes various things such as dolls or food, and even stomps, kicks, or crushes animals to death. Typically the animals are insects and frogs, but more and more often they are cute and innocent kittens, rabbits, chicks, and so forth.

As of the time of writing this, July 2009, there are no laws against the crushing to death of live invertebrates (animals without a back bone, such as insects, snails, etc.). It was only in 1999 that the United States criminalized creating or owning films showing killing of what we call higher lifeforms (those with backbones). Worse still in 2008 the law was challenged under the Freedom of Speech clause in the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Oral arguments in the case are likely to be heard later in the fall of 2009.
You can follow the story of The United States vs. Stevens here.
In the films the woman may start out by playing with the animal, only to turn and stomp on it.
Believe it or not, these films are seen as being sexual in nature, and are considered a turn-on for some individuals. The psychology of why some men, or even women, are attracted to this is perverse and not easily understood. Chances are if a person enjoys these fetishes they are not going to seek professional mental help to understand or deal with it.

It has been suspected that the women in the films are often coerced or forced into it. In fact investigations have found this to be true when some rings of film production have been broken up. The women are often drug users, young girls, and those with nobody to care for them. Even if the woman was a willing participant, the animal clearly was not.
It is interesting to note that there is another level of films, known as “Snuff Films” in which people are the victims. To which I will add that many serial killers have stated that they began by torturing and killing “Free to good home” pets, then progressing to humans. Very likely crush films open the door to a mans desire to explore watching a human being the victim and will seek out snuff films to satisfy those urges.
Causes and Warning Signs
Parents should watch for warning signs in their children. As with serial killers who later killed other peoples pets, many also killed their own pets, often while living at home as children with their parents.
It is not uncommon for a parent to observe a child becoming interested with killing insects. Some times parents even encourage children to crush insects, rewarding them for stepping on a spider or ant that has entered their home. Clearly only a small portion of children grow up to have crush fetishes, but if there is nay chance that parenting can be a contributing factor, it should be addressed. A boy who spends too much time fascinating over watching an animal suffer might be one who should be quickly taught lessons of compassion.
Other concerns have been raised that the enjoyment of these films is linked to a mans desire to see a woman in the position of power over life, stealing it away from the innocent, preferring the death to be slow, torturous, and drawn out in the process, then continuing as if nothing unusual happened. Suspected causes of this are young boys watching their mothers squish bugs under foot then continuing on. This is almost the reverse of the above, the child is enthralled at how callous his mother is about killing the bug, a creature that perhaps the child had compassion for.
Either way, the end result is the same, animals are being killed for the sexual perversion of a few individuals, and it is wrong.

A very informative article. Crush films are something I’d never heard of before. It’s terrible what people can do to innocent animals.

Crush films? Never heard of them, and quite glad about that too! There are all sorts of perversions in the world I guess, but this one seems very cruel and pointless.

These films are far more cruel than she let on in this article. They torment and kill the animals slowly. They put the high heels through the eyes of kittens and worse. I am not so sure that stomping a cricket or spider is really a big deal but tormenting a kitten certainly should be outlawed.
As for the discarding of fouls I see nothing wrong with it at all. They were a bi product of a necessary process. They would of never been conceived in the first place if it wasn’t for the need of the medicine.
Anyway it is a great article on a very difficult subject thank you for writing it. Sorry to be disagreeable on a few points but I am with you on more than I am opposed to you.

I honestly have never heard of “crush” films before. I have heard of “snuff” films but I never really knew that they were real. I thought that this kind of hatred and absolute barbaric cruelty only happened in the movies. It never entered my mind that people would actually do this for real. It is disgusting!

This is first I have heard of crush films. God knows that animal cruelty is awful enough but the cruel fools who take part in exploiting such are not even worth their own crap. We need more articles and people to stand as you do. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry I couldn’t read the entire article. When I saw the baby chicks ….well. I know in my heart of hearts you have made some wise, strong, and sensible statements here.

To Brad – above (#6) – as far as foals go – the medicine used by the mare urine is NOT necessary and can be made just as effectively from YAMS too, however the pharmasutical company that makes estrogen from mare urine really pushes doctors to prescribe their drug over the alternative made from YAMS.

I have heard of this subject.
Animal cruelty is animal cruelty no matter how you look at it.
It is awful how people treat animals and insects.
One day my children were walking to a neighbors house, we saw a roach. My 7 year old said mommy please don’t step on Gearge Roach it is a creature of God.
He did not understand that roaches bring sickness.
I am glad that he wants to treat even roaches repsect.
By the way.
I am a fan.

This is just the most terrible and pointless thing I’ve ever heard of! I am completely discusted what human beings are capable of doing.. I recently learned about this a couple of days ago and my heart has been aching since. What kind of sick monster do you have to be to inflict pain on a little inocent creature and on top of that enjoy it.. I dont understand it and dont even want to try.. I havnt watched any of these vidoes because I know I wont be able to handle it, hearing about them makes me sick enough..
I found this petitio online, hopefully eveyone here will sign it and hopelly make a difference..

i’m actually a crushfreak myself (altho i prefer watching guys crushing bugs not girls) and restrict myself to small 6 o 8-legged animals (anything bigger or with less legs is kinda evil)… there’s not a lot of us but… a) yeap, i luv myself and there’s no chance in hell i’m gonna go get “help” for it cuz i like it b) more guys (and i guess girls as well) than you can imagine are willing to do *it* for us c) the world has more important problems so good luck trying to stop us!!!
look around next time you’re about to crush a bug. you might be helping ppl like me get off without knowing it

I have heard of this subject too. I prefer see girls crushing insects, bugs until frogs and mice. But girls wearing beach flip flops, thongs or sneakers, cause “the victim” only dies soflty flatten, and not with the guts out. And not crushing kitten nor dogs, nor rabbits. That’s all.
