Gosh I loathe the use of the word "green" to promote conservation and alternative energy, etc. Take 'green energy', -the growing of corn to make ethanol for automotive fuel. The only way a farmer will sell corn for making ethanol is if the price is higher than for food (which it is) which in turn drove up corn prices worldwide. the cost of say, corn meal for Mexicans increased some 800% according to a new programme I was watching recently AND because of the lucrative corn-for-ethanol price, MORE rainforest is burnt and re-planted for growing corn to sell to 'green energy' processing... so, -if you're burning 'ethanol-containing gasoline' you are directly contributing to the destruction of more rainforest...

We really humped the pooch on that one... :-\

Side note though; a new project that uses ALGAE for fuel is being worked with. And, to feed the algae, it requires the 'waste emissions' of industrial facilities, cites, etc. Hopefully, no rainforest will be destroyed in lieu of creating 'algae lakes' for 'green fuel'... :-o
