Ecological Friendly Business

Some companies are harmful towards the environment and some are good. But how can we do our daily tasks, and at the same time be helpful towards the environment?

One way to help stop global warming would be to go green, but to go green, people have to know what kinds of businesses, companies, and products are best for the environment. Different businesses are helping the environment in different ways. Some of them are making products that help the environment, some are having products packaged and transported in a way that helps the environment, and some of them are just doing everything they can to go green.

First of all, companies that sell ecologically friendly products are greatly helping the environment. When people buy ecologically friendly, they save the environment. Some products save the amounts of electricity used to help the environment. For example, some companies and businesses sell compact fluorescent light bulbs, also known as CFL light bulbs. CFL light bulbs last longer and are more energy efficient. When you replace a 60-watt incandescent light bulb (burning 5 hours a day) with a 12-watt fluorescent light bulb, you will off-set 440 pounds of coal and 860 pounds of CO2 a year, saving 36 kwh a month. PG&E is one of the many businesses that sell CFL light bulbs to help save the environment. They are making tons of CFL light bulbs and are trying to persuade everyone to switch to CFL light bulbs.  Another type of ecologically friendly product is food. There are many supermarkets around such as Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe’s that sell organic food from nearby farms. Not only is organic food healthier for you, since it doesn’t use pesticides or fertilizer, it is better for the environment. Hybrid cars are also better for the environment. They have a higher mpg than regular cars, so they help you save gas for the environment. Many car companies make hybrids, such as Toyota, Honda, etc.

Futhermore, many businesses transport products in an ecologically friendly way to help the environment. For example, some organic foods are grown in local farms. Having your food grown in local farms is a great way to help stop global warming. If food is grown nearby, it doesn’t have to travel very far to reach the buyer. If the path of the transportation is shorter, then it saves gas, therefore helping the environment by not polluting it. Some local farms around here in Cupertino include Village Harvest in Santa Clara, Kaiser Santa Clara Farmers’ Market, and Mellow’s Nursery and Farms in Sunnyvale. Some of the local farms around also sell organic food, helping the environment in more than one way.

I see you start this with the new flourescent light bulbs that are taking the world by storm. Did you know they have enough mercury in them that we are not permitted to put them in or trach? I wonder, sometimes, if bad replacing bad is really good.

Also – I read recently that most CO2 in the atmosphere is from the seawater, not products. And, although CO2 is supposed to be causing global warming, the Earth has shown a marked decrease in temp for the last ten years, and icebergs have grown, not shrunk. Yet the horrible CO2 that is causing global warming is not shrinking. Any ideas?
