These type of systems already exist in the UK. We have non-electric BIOROCK sewage treatment systems which produce clean water from sewage, grey water harvesters and rainwater harvesters, We flush toilets with grey or rainwater.

This concept has been in use in many states in US and has been researched and written about extensively.

Check out "Grey water systems" and "artificial wetland" water treatments and "recycled water" on Google. You'll find tons of info on how to set up legal and accepted information as well as thoughtful debates on health issues and cost benefits.

Nice post. There does seem to be a forum for green ideas called treehugger. Yes, it seems we have to consider all of our actions in light of how much the planet can sustain, these days. Keep putting out the message that we can create a much better world by paying attention to this and using to our advantage the interconnectedness of the biological world that surrounds us. Green on.
