Facts and Myths About Trees

While I do not believe in Global Warming, I do believe it is because of human’s selfishness that has caused some of the problems we face. Planting more trees are great, but perhaps we should stop cutting them down acre by acre!

Facts and Myths About Trees

They say that trees slow down global warming, lets be serious here, it is not that global warming needs to be slowed down! It is the construction industries that need to slow down, our planet was doing just fine until we decided to cut down trees and build more home than we truly need.  While trees are attractive, people believe that it adds to the value of a home; it may if the people looking at it like trees!  Environmentalists say it lowers our energy bills, while it may cover the house from direct sunlight, it also holds in the heat. While a beautiful countryside will encourage outdoor activities, that is not exactly true, unless parents make it their business to get out with the kids; especially since computer and console games are a more inviting past time.

While we all know that trees give us oxygen and as long as we don’t continue to cut them down we can continue to breathe fresh air. It is unfortunate since the trees remove pollutant from the air that we continue to destroy rain forest and entire sides of a mountain to build homes, restaurants and hotels. Trees are all great for holding the ground together, avoiding storm water runoff and flooding; because the ground absorbs the water deeper, at the same time the roots suck up the water to help them to grow tall and strong.

So while the trees look beautiful and make the parks look pretty, the earth if we left it alone would do perfectly fine without us!

A very worthwhile and informative piece. When I look at the junk mail that has come through the post this morning, it makes me realise how wasteful we are with paper and how many trees have been cut down to provide that paper.
