Global Warming: How It is Affecting Us, and What We Can Do
This persuasive essay I wrote about Global Warming tells you what this phenomenon is and what it can do. Here, I’m persuading viewers like you to help reduce the emission of carbon dioxide, consider alternatives and conserve our resources.
What might you think caused our economy to be so bad? Well, simply because we, as Americans, are being selfish in some ways by buying houses that you know you can’t afford. Then, when the bank sells that house, the bank loses a lot of money when you first used their money and couldn’t repay that. So what makes us act and respond to this now? Clearly it is because we are experiencing the awfulness in losing jobs, so now people feel all ashamed and wished they could have changed something in the past. This is precisely what might happen with global warming if we do not act quickly and efficiently, reversing this phenomenon little by little.
Global warming has been discovered about 2 decades ago and I’m pretty sure people have tired to do something about it, but what? Now it is believed that alternative energy sources are the answers to this problem. Installing and developing alternative sources needs lots of effort and cost. The average American household emits about a few pounds of carbon dioxide each day, polluting the air greatly. So where does this effort in stopping this come in? Well, firstly, American already has hundreds of coal-generated energy factories, and in order to change them into nuclear, solar, wind, or water-generated companies, that might take time and lots of money. Except if we change these companies one by one, maybe through a period of time, it can be accomplished. Electricity can be a problem, but it also can be an answer. What also pollutes our atmosphere is the carbon dioxide emitted from cars. Burning fossil fuels is what emits all the bad gases, but if we use electricity that’s made form clean resources, then a car wouldn’t emit much carbon dioxide since the electricity is made from clean resources. Ultimately, we need to put effort and contribute money into creating these clean resources such as windmills, solar cells, and dams. By simply doing simple tasks like planting trees or turning off lights in rooms we don’t need them, we can make small differences that help. This is not something one person or a group of people can accomplish, this is something that everyone has to chime in, and help.
All in all, what global warming may do is that it may kill animals, submerge cities, and melt large amounts of glaciers causing the sea level to rise. So, I respectfully ask the citizens of America to put more effort into creating and using alternative energy sources to help prevent global warming from going any further. Let’s help prevent this matter by switching to the renewable resources around us before you find your hometown as an underwater tourist attraction.
