Global Warming Solutions

What would you say if I tell you can’t have a dog because they have become extinct?

Global Warming threatens to cause great damage to our wildlife because it will

destroy or change habitats are becoming increasingly endangered, some even extinct. We

can save the habitats of millions of animals form global warming if we tackle the

problem now.

Many animals have been endangered due to global warming. All animals will

suffer because we haven’t done anything to stop it. “256 animals are either in danger of

extinction, on the brink of it, or are extinct in Canada alone.”(*C.O.S.E.W.I.C,1994)

When I looked for a list of animals, I was shocked to see so many were in danger. I

haven’t even heard of most of these animals and probably lots of other people also.

“Eleven animals were already extinct in Canada”(*C.O.S.E.W.I.C, 1994). “These 11

animals were: Dawson’s Caribou, Sea Mink, Great Auk, Labrador Duck, Passenger

Pigeon, Deepwater Cisco, Longjaw Cisco, Banff Longnose Dace, Blue Walleye”(C.O.S.E.W.I.C,1994).

We must save all the animals so future generations can learn about

their habitats and can see them out in the wild. People can then learn about them.

Someday these animals might also become useful to us especially for medical purposes.

Many Habitats have been destroyed “ Forty-one percent of the Amazon rainforest

has been destroyed due to deforestation. Four million hectares have been cut down for

cities in Canada”(**). Just think , Canada is just one of many countries. “ The United

States has had 913.7 million hectares cut down!”(**). The many animals that live in these

forests are now homeless because of the massive deforestation. “ On Earth between 40-50

million of acres have been cut down.”( Deckert, 1993). That’s bigger than all of Europe!

The world could become a barren wasteland of an endless cities like the planet Coruscant

from Star Wars.

We can save the forests and animal habitats. To do this we must recycle making

less garbage. We must also cut back on carbon emissions so we must find another fuel

source for cars. We need to make our vehicles globally friendly. We must use other

materials for furniture so we can preserve as many trees as possible. Also breeding

endangered animals will sustain wildlife in the world today. If we can save the

environment we also save the animals and humans. The ecosystems are very delicate and

to be balanced and sustained.

To save our planet from the effects of global warming we will need a global

program. We are the only hope. If animals die out we will soon follow. The domino

effect of consequences will be felt globally. Will our next sighting of endangered animals

be our last? Will future generations be enjoy the planet we enjoy today. The consquences

will follow our actions.
