Global Warming: Something to be Worried About?
A little piece I wrote on global warming.
That’s my first idea to combat global warming and ensure our futures for a few decades more. Back on to the matter at hand. Cars. If you’re seen driving one by eco-crazed people you are looked down upon and thought of as the scum of the Earth. “You’re producing carbon dioxide and that is going to kill us all”. Shall we have a look at some figures now? We have a big old Hyundai Santa Fe, the 2001 version with the one or two ‘problems’, this car does 235 carbon dioxide grams per kilometre. In 2005, China produced 6,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide, remember that this is only one country and in one year alone. For our Hyundai Santa Fe to do as much to the environment as China in one year, it would have to travel 16,922,444,255,320 miles (this is the same as going around the circumference of the Earth 679,576,519 times). It’s nearly 17 trillion miles. Let’s just say that a Hyundai Santa Fe can do a maximum of 100,000 miles, you would need 170 million Santa Fe’s to do that distance.
The mathematics part is over now so you can stop pulling your hair out. The figures, you’ve got to admit, are pretty stunning. And these prove that the car hardly contributes to global warming at all when you consider countries like China and America. So why are people worried over small things like cars? Why is the government charging more tax for 4×4s and cars that produce more carbon dioxide? If they are still worried about cars even with figures like that then how about this, Honda have introduced a new car that runs on hydrogen. This means that it gives off no carbon dioxide and I assume we will all be driving cars similar to this in the future when the oil runs out as there is much, much more hydrogen in the world then oil. It might also shut the tree-huggers up.
However, according to Kurt Vonnegut “All lights are about to go out. No more electricity. All forms of transportation are about to stop, and the planet Earth will soon have a crust of skulls and bones and dead machinery. And nobody can do a thing about it”. Doesn’t it sound positive? I mean, if global warming is happening and it is because of humans then humans can resolve the problem.
I’ve figured it out; global warming is blown completely out of proportion. I mean yeah sure, the Earth maybe heating up slightly but its all part of nature and all these people and pressure groups are taking it way to seriously. Then there’s the government who are only in it to get extra cash off us, they are increasing the road tax of large cars by hundreds of pounds, not to mention they charge over 60p tax per litre of petrol which is about 70% of the price nowadays but that’s just the greedy bastards for you. All I’d recommend to you is this…sit back and enjoy the Spanish-like weather before, apparently to Kurt, we all inevitably die.
