History of Minnamurra and Deforestation

The history of minnamurra is explained clearly here.

History

[Minnamurra]

The Minnamurra rainforest was part of the Rainforestof Gondwanaland. As Australia broke apart from the rest of the supercontinent, Australia became drier and parts of the rainforest vanished. Minnamurra was part of the Illawarra Rainforest, which covered the area from Minnamurra Rainforest today, all the way to the coast at Kiama, Nowra and Shoal-haven. The Aborigines of Australia lived in these rainforests until the loggers arrived in 1805. The loggers were probably the first Europeans to see the Minnamurra Falls. The loggers mainly cut down red ciders. The forest was then cleared to make land for farming. The Minnamurra Rainforest was a popular picnic spot. On 2nd May, the Hon. J. Carruthers, Minister for Lands, visited the falls and was asked to name the falls by E.W. Craig. He named it Minnamurra Falls, after Minnamurra. Minnamurra is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘plenty of fish’.On 15Th February 1898, Archibald Campbell MP visited the falls and proposed a resumption of 47 acres of land for public use, which was added on the 16th March, 1903.There have also been other additions to the park, like 38acres donated by Ellen and Frederick Tieck. The Kiama Municipal Council managed the area until the 1986, when NPWS took over to make it part of the BudderooNational Park with funding under the National Rainforest Conservation Program, a café, a learning center anda boardwalk around in area, and a paved trail up to the Minnamurra Falls was built.

Deforestation

In 1805, the loggers arrived at the Illawarra Rainforest. The loggers were after the red cedar (Toona Cilita)and other trees in the forest for timber. The loggers called the red cedar ‘red gold’, and they cut down most of the cedars in the forest. The area was then cleared for agriculture, destroying most of the rainforest. The rainforest area was then protected by Kiama Municipal Council and NPWS, and all logging and other damages done to the rainforest is prohibited.

    Hello
I have set up a petition on the Number 10 Epetition website. It is a challenge to all polititians : PROVE ME WRONG. If you agree with the two statements below please use the link provided to sign up. If you dont believe it please just put ‘the emperor wears no clothes’ into google read the evidence and make an informed decision.

    1. The hemp legislation enforced in the world today, and since the 1930’s, has caused more death, destruction and environmental damage than any decision by any politition or humanbeing in history.
    2. Putting hemp BACK in its rightful position as humanities number one crop, raw material, fuel, food, and medicine ( as it had been since pre-histiry and in parts since the dawn of mankind), has the very real and possible potential of not just slowing down global warming, but actually REVERSING IT!!!

But how? You ask. Well for a start it is one of the worlds fastest growing plants and produces more fibre, seed/oil, cellulose than any other crop and its a green manure, so it actually puts goodness back into the soil, and needs no fertiliser or pesticide. In 1941 Henry Ford had IN PRODUCTION the worlds first ‘alcohol engined’ eco car; its bodywork, dashboard, seat covers, plastic fittings etc, wre made from hemp and it ran on methanol from hemp. It is the only single plant food source that a humanbeing can live on -indefinitely- and contains all the essential omega’s in the perfect ratio for us!

Too good to be true? Or too good for the oil industry, pharmaceuticals and agro-chemicals, not to want to misinform about, conceal and scapegoat.

Politicians and others in power refuse to address this issue with anything even approaching, honest, informed, rational and balanced intentions and debate. Due to this, it is my intention to continue feeding the birds, best quality cannabis sativa – hemp seed – wherever I go, and to continue to give bags of the seeds to anyone who wants them, to do with them as they will.
    Yours Mark A. Chapman
