How to make a skeptic listen
How to make a climate change skeptic listen
Climate change is every more evident as passing years go by. Still, some will argue that every year the earth has not changed, or is not changing because of humans and their less than environmental ways. Some will try and convince others that, indeed there is something wrong, and well, the others will not want to believe a word of it.
For exemple, the ten hottest years on record have been made in the last 15 years. In that simple little phrase there should be enough to worry anybody who cares. That is exactly the problem, not everyone cares.
For some, global warming is nothing more than a hoax. It seems that NASA, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, The National Academy of Sciences, The State of the Canadian Cryosphere, the Environmental Protection Agency and many more don’t see it that way. Now the question to be answered is, could these organizations all be lying for some reason or another?
Then there is the economy factor. It will cost too much to change things and everybody is going to lose. On the other hand, droughts, diseases, loss of major coastal cities and a tremendous mass extinction event are on the table as possible consequences of unmitigated Global Warming. Which will cost more now?
In a series written by Coby Beck, he responds to the common skeptical arguments on global warming. The research and information contained in this series is beyond exceptional. Divided in four separate argument departments which consiste of ‘Stages of denial’, ‘Scientific topic’, ‘Types of arguments’ and Levels of sophistication, Mr. Beck covers everything from, There is no evidence point, all the way to everything is melting. Also contained in this series are interesting questions that even the hardest to convince can find an answer. Whislt they probably won’t believe the answer, there is no denying that the answer does exist, and for a reason.
If you are still being told that global warming is just in your mind, you should try and redirect them to Coby Becks series. If after reading it, they still find a way to not believe a thing, you better let them be because there is no helping them.
