Is There any Truth to Going Green for Our Planet?
Everyone is running out to go”green” to save the earth; this is not something new! It may be new to those who are use to running out and always getting the newest fashion, or the lastest trend; but society has always concerned themselves with conservation. It is only the last twenty five years that we have allowed the industries to do as they please, and now those very same industries or manufacturers are telling us to go “green”.
Now lets get to electronic, first off the common household computer is relatively new; perhaps its been about fifteen years, that families started to purchase home computers. Now we live in household with two and three computers or laptops. Some goes for televisions, they have been around, less than one hundred years, and the same goes for cars and other major appliances. These are the things that need to be addressed. These items should be reused! These things can be taken apart and the pieces used to rebuild wash machines, dryers and other household appliance.
Some items are just not recycle able nor is it wise to recycle the item, for example; cars from the 1930’s are not as fuel efficient as the new 2009 models, but the medal and parts can be melted down to make other things. We all know that there are things that can never be recycled, and these are the items that absolutely need to be place in a safe place, away from populated areas. Batteries are dangerous not only to our soil, but to those who come in contact with them as they become old and leak acid. Therefore these type of items along with paint and other harsh chemical need to be brought to recycling center; here they are prepared and know how to dispose of these items properly.
Lets look at things we have at home that we can recycled or reused, butter containers, which are plastic can be used by you the consumers to store leftovers and other food items; while others can use it to separate coins, beads, nuts and bolts, to name a few small items that could easily be stored away in these containers. Clothes and shoes can be sent to the Salvation Army, you local church or consignment shop; your old rags may just be a gorgeous find to someone in need. Cell phones today are being reprogrammed and given to single moms, on public assistance in case of an emergency, while other companies are making them international capable, and set overseas for our soldiers. Instead of using the harsh chemical that load the supermarket shelves, to clean house you can find that using vinegar with or without lemon juice to clean, not only saving you money, but it makes things shine just as well. (Use care when using these acidity products mixed together; on marble and granite)
All in all, it is not a matter of saving the Earth it all has to do with common sense. Just as nature had provides for us, we must then protect it from the harmful elements man has created. We must take responsibility for our action. It is not a poor thing to recycle it is a wise thing to do, and to teach our children to do.
