It Should Not be Taboo

Stop the pattern, choose to act and change your attitude to stop any kind of harassment.

Amazing when we talk about harassment, we see faces going down.  It is now taboo and it does exist more and more these days. I myself have been victim of it.  I will not talk like a victim but I will share with many of your out there that it is something that no one should experience or should use to think they are powerful.

In 1964 the United States of America the Congress pass an act for the Civil rights prohibiting discrimination at work on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin and sex. Did you know that later it became the legal basis for the harassment law?  Did you know that in 1984 about 20 years after, we are so slow in acting sometimes, Canadian human Rights act prohibited sexual harassment in workplaces under federal jurisdiction.  In UK we can observe that similar laws were establishing in 1994 and in 1997.

And am not talking here about psychological harassment because this kind is or must really Taboo. But it does exist, from every one in every form, every way. Even the purest person on this world did it once in his life. Have you ever say?

·         You can’t do it!

·         Come on, you have no idea what you are talking about!

·         What are you thinking, that is no sense?

·         This is not the way to do it.

·         Am better than that, let me show you?

I can go on and on, but it is not my point.  Yes without noticing we are putting people down by simple sentence. Not that we have all the intention to do so. That is simple way of putting self-esteem down. It does start this way. Now the person having a strong character or attitude will act other way.  Usually they are more self person, they learn in their young age to destroy every wall in front of them forgetting about people, human being.  So they continue to do so, even more usually they have also been destroy in their self-esteem by their own parents or family, let me show you an example:

What is going on with you, you seem to never understand what I am telling you, are you dumb, what is the problem with you, you are stupid……

Imagine a kid at the age of 5 hearing that during all his childhood, do you think he has good respect of himself.  That is how he learns to deal with people so he will reproduce the same pattern. As a person myself and especially because I had deal with that situation, we need to discourage such attitude, do not be scare to lose your job because of such boss or employee. Do not let anyone do that to you.  I know it is not easy but let me tell you something, I understand something and it is clear to me, my self esteem is much more important than a pay check or a person not intelligent enough to understand that I am worth any kind of job on this earth.  It was Taboo many years ago, now we have to say no to it all together and starting with us parents by raising our children another way. Change our way of talking to them, be sure to be positive with them always, they are children, they are intelligent and we can uplift that to make this world be better and to change those attitude of manipulation and harassment. We need to let them know that we will not accept that anymore. Nothing, even if it is sexual abuse, racial, person, mind, body or religion or work.  We have to speak loud and stop this bad attitude.

I have learnt would you?

I totally agree with this article. As an ex teacher I had to be so careful about what I said to children about their work or behaviour. It would have been so easy to harm a child for life with an unfortunate remark. Fortunately experience of children helps a great deal. A well put over article.
