It’s Time to Save Our Youth

A cry to save our youth.

Our black youth need our help.  It’s time for us to take a stand as adults and eradicate this violent and self destruction behavior. Which has been displayed in the last decade or more?  We can not continue to turn our heads or expect our government to handle our youth. You see what’s going on in your neighborhoods or on the news.  These children are out of control! Remember when children had respect for their elders?   They would take off their hat when they were in someones house. They didn’t dare talk back because they knew the consequences of such an action. Children didn’t act up at school because they knew their parents where going to spank them either there at school or when they got home. Children weren’t allowed to be in grown folk business. They weren’t allowed to come in at all types of hours of the night.

Now some of you are saying not my children, but I can say the same thing, but I may not be including those children who are blessed to have a good upbringing.  Those who raise their children the right way will be affected by those children who don’t have proper discipline or stability.  Your child will have to face these children in one instance or another.  You yourself may encounter them just by walking down the street.  These new teenagers as I call them stay out on the street getting in to mischief.  They are selling drugs on the corner, committing genocide, having sex and babies, using unprotected sex.  They don’t want to go to school and if they do they make it hard on the children who want to learn. Juvenile hall is at an all time rise.  Just to wrap this up a bit, they are just disrespectful to themselves as well as others.  Where are our leaders of yesterday and if they were here today, what do you think they would say?  Our ancestors worked far too hard for us to have the opportunities we have today.  We can not allow these children to ruin their achievements. We all are partly the ones to blame.  We abandoned our children ( It takes a whole village to raise a child)  We are so busy doing ourselves or trying to climb the corporate ladder to even bother to look back and reach out to others.  You want to boost and say look at me!  I’m not associated with those ghetto people.  I am educated and my children are as well.  We live in a nice neighborhood, I have nice cars, we have a membership to a country club, we take trips around the world, we go to church and we live this privilege lifestyle. You can have all these things, but random acts of violent happens every where. If it doesn’t affect you, then it will affect someone you love dearly.  I often wonder if Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, W.E.B Dubois, Marcus Garvey, Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and a host of others would have turn their backs on us, what would have happen to our race?  Please keep this in your mind as you read this blog. When Mr. Bill Cosby tried to address our people in Philadelphia about our youth, people didn’t want to stand behind him.  There are so many adults who are dysfunctional and therefore their children are too.
