Let’s All Conserve Some Energy
Going Green? Everything we are hearing are the same lines our parents and grandparents used on us when we were little; it makes me wonder what changed?
Conserving energy has nothing to do with going “Green”, it is something parents and grand parents have been saying long before we were even born; it is a matter of saving money.
Today we take electricity for granted, but in time it will run out, and we will have to find alternatives to energy; but being conservative not only helps to keep our resources around long; it saves money.
There are many ways of saving, that are very simple, such as shutting off the lights in rooms that are not in use, shutting down your computer if you not going to be using it; and the most important one, is to shut off you air conditioners if your not going to be home for a few hours.

Regarding your air conditioners, try to keep the thermostat between, 75-78 degrees, and changing the filters every month it can help to save over fifty dollars per month. WOW that is about two hundred dollars for the summer. It you have central air-conditioning, close the vents to the rooms that are unoccupied, why color the air in rooms that are empty? Keeping the blinds or shades down when the sun is shinning into you windows, can help keep the room cooler, than opening the shades and letting the hot sun shine in. If you have central air-conditioning, install a timer on your thermostat, so that it goes on about thirty minutes before you arrive home. This ensures that you walk into a comfortable home. All these are small things we can all do to conserve energy, as well as save you money.
You can save up to three hundred dollars a year when you do laundry just by making some very small changes. When you decide to run a load to wash clothes, make sure that you are doing a full load, the same goes for when you run the dishwasher. Why run full loads with the machine half full. When you do run the wash machine, use cold water, it cleans the clothes just as well as hot water; and it prevents shrinkage and damage to your clothes.

The cheapest and most conservative way to dry clothes is out on a clothes line, unfortunately most people don’t have the time to wait hours for clothes to dry; which is why the clothes-dryer was invented.

If using this machine fits your life style, remember to always clean the filter before each load, and more importantly never over load the dryer. Over loading the dryer course the machine to work harder, and most times you may have to run the dryer a second time.

In addition to this being a easy way to conserve our resources, it is an excellent way to save money; especially in uncertain times.
