A take on advertising world.

In my opinion, the advertising world today is seriously suffering from lack of creative and innovative ideas. Just by zooming on really hot model with toothpaste in hand doesn’t make an advertisement. I really miss the good old adds that would touch your heart. The ones by Airtel,  Vodafone’s zoo zoo and Fevicol are some of the most creative works, especially the concept of zoo zoo. They have taken the world by storm.

On the other hand we got fairness cream advertisements that just instigate the already existing prejudice against dark women. It’s a shame that color of skin, which is beyond our control, still takes the driver’s seat. How unabashedly the adds try to promote that success solely depends on skin color. While the high profile models, actresses and even actors rake in moolah for promoting the same.

Cosmetic products for babies and Barbie doll shampoos priced obscenely high are the talk of the town.  The advertising companies target young kids by luring them with Doremon and Pokemon stamped pencil box , bed sheets , stationery’s and chocolates. The demand of a 5 year old is as huge as a teenager. There’s no simplicity left.

You’re right. Today’s advertisement has become more “entertainment” than actual presentation of products. None of it affects my choices. I buy as the need compels me to after doing my own careful research. Good piece.

I definitely agree that vast majority (probably all) of today’s ads are worth sh*t. Most ads shown in Slovak media are rather annoying to almost everybody, being repeated every half an hour or hour …
