Nine Easy Ways to Go Green
Do you fancy adding a tint of green to your lifestyle? Try any one of these easy methods, and then give yourself a pat on the back and save money too!
Here are Nine Easy Ways to Green Up Your Life:
- Turn the water off while you’re brushing your teeth, and only turn it on to rinse.
- Turn the water off in the shower while you’re shampooing/scrubbing/soaping yourself down. Turn on again when it’s time to rinse off.
- Compost your kitchen and garden waste. You can also add shredded paper and cardboard to your compost.
- Get low energy light bulbs and put them everywhere. The savings are huge, and the bulbs last longer than ordinary light bulbs.
- Turn off your computer screen, your TV standby, your microwave oven and your regular oven when not in use, anything with a digital display or standby light is wasting electricity when you’re not using it.
- Unplug chargers when they’re not being used. If they’re left plugged in they continue to consume electricity as if they’re charging something. Don’t charge anything up for longer than it needs.
- Don’t drive your car if you don’t need to. When you’re about to use your car, think: could you walk, cycle, car pool or use public transport instead?
- Recycle everything you can. If you have recycling pickups where you live, make full use the service. If there’s a recycling centre near you, use that too.
- Say no to plastic carrier bags. When you go shopping, bring your own tote bags and put your shopping in those rather than the shop’s plastic carrier bags.
All of the above ideas should help to reduce the strain on our planet as well as the strain on our finances. It may not seem like much, but even doing only one or two of these things will add a credit on the side of conservation and a reduction in waste. If enough people do just a little bit, the impact will be huge.

You have some helpful information for us here. We are running out of water in Ga. and had better come up with good solutions for taking care of our water. We should have done so long before now.

Great article Dee! We do all of them except using the plastic store bags because we line our waste baskets with them and use them to tidy the cat litter boxes…

Just read Liane’s (Schmidt) article ‘green for life’. Oddly, my last line on the article’s comment was Go green people. Then i read this article nine easy ways to GO GREEN. Coincidence?
And am repeating myself agian, we all need to do these little things and do our bit, each little bit can make a big difference eventually.
