Paying For Protection?

by NYRETT in Activism, June 10, 2009

Stop corporations that insist that they ‘need to protect us’.

It has happened to you, I know it has; because, It’s happened to all of us, more often than we want to admit. We, who pay our bills on time. We who pay the salary of the Representitive at the other end of the line. We, who contract the Utility, Insurance, and Credit Companies and only request that they provide their service without their antagonistic attitudes. At what point did we become the victims of this Insane Practice of Protection?

You know the Reps, the ones with  a small amount of, what they believe is power. The ones, that torment you with the most unnecessary, ridiculous , repetitive questions like, “And who are you?”  or ”What’s your phone number?” They know the phone number. I have caller ID in my house; therefore, I’m sure that a huge Corporation, like Verizon Communication, also has it. After all they are in the Telephone Communication Business. But, alas, they go on with their mind numbing, ridiculous quiz, allegedly, protecting me

“It is for your protection“, is the patt response, they spout out regularly. “We have a privacy policy“. “We have to protect your privacy“.  “I’m sorry, it is an internal policy and we can’t send you a copy”. “Oh, I’m so sorry for your frustration, but I don’t think that I’m able to assist you.” What the heck is that all about?

When did we go into the mode of wanting or needing protection from people, who work for us? We hired them to provide a service. When did we start to pay them and work for them, as well? I have survived, just fine without the protection of X.Y.Z. Insurance Corporation.

I am sick to death oftheir empty apologies !  Don’t say your “SORRY”.  Take action, think, use your brain, respond to my concern. Take a gamble, go out on a limb for me, the customer, and find out how you can assist me, not just antagonize me with the empty headed nonsense that is spouted from Reps mouths, after each question, that I ask. What is your address? What is your Zip Code? What is your Phone Number? What is your Blood Type? That’s the next question I expect the Companies to ask me, the next time I call to pay my bill, or request information.

Since when did I need protection? I have made it this far without the Electric Company’s protection. I lived in New York, just outside the City, for most of my life and never paid for protection; yet, now living  in the ”Heartland”, all of a sudden I need Protection?  The Mob is less frustrating and more receptive.

The Gas, Phone, & Insurance  Company has decided to exercise their control and power by making you prove that you are - who you are – with each and every call, no matter what the issue might be. We give the account number, but we are asked for our name. We give the name, but we are asked for the address. We give the address, but are asked for the phone number. We give the phone number, but we are asked for the zip code.

Enough Already! I have had enough! I told one Rep, who couldn’t comprehend why I was getting upset. I have had enough of this time consuming, insignificant, justification of the REPS existence.

We have to resist the sheep mentality, forced on us by the Corporations. We don’t need to have our privacy protected. We don’t need to answer those stupid questions. We have to regain some sense of reason, when we interact with these Corporations. Resist the nonstop questions, to verify you are you. Force the agents to THINK. It is in our hands to force them to adapt to the thinking process.

No! I don’t want your protection!  No! I don’t need yourprotection!  No! Take me off your protection list!Stop protecting me, it’s driving me nuts! I will survive being protection-less! No one else is going to pay my bills but me,; however, should someone call to pay me bill, “Take the money”, without asking any questions. This is a direct demand from the one who contributes to your salary. “Take the money!” It will be a cold day in Hell, when someone, other than myself, pays the stinking bill.

As it is was stated in the movie, Network: “I’m mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it, anymore!”
