Polar Bears: Lost

by Nicole Bettis in Activism, January 21, 2009

This is intended to educate the public about one of the drastic effects our hazardous lifestyles have on the planet.

Okay so, if you are of those people who still believe that global warming isn’t happening, just step outside. Is Its the beginning of January and we are still having 65 degree days, and as far as snow goes, if we don’t do something soon, that too will be a thing of the past.

Global Warning’s here! And it will only get worse, if we continue to ignore it. Since most people aren’t being directly affected yet, they pretend it doesn’t exist. I wish it were that easy for our friends the Polar bears. You see, they are feeling the detesting effects of our negligence right now; Their habitat is melting away as we speak. Imagine sitting in your living room and the floor suddenly cracks open. The earth begins to swallow your home. You try to escape only to find that every other home in your city is already gone. You hold your family close and look for another way out, there is no food and the ground your standing on is slowly crumbling under your feet.

That’s what happening to the last of our polar bears. The ice cups are melting and the few pieces that remain are being swallowed by the ocean. Mother polar bears Struggle to find food for their starving young and many drown in the search. The baby Polar bear is then left alone to fend for himself against starvation, pollution and GLOBAL WARMING! If we ignore this situation, we too, will soon face the divesting effects Of Global Warming.

Here’s What you can do to help:

A. Unplug electronics and appliances when your not using them and STOP holding the door open

refrigerator

B.STOP Joy riding

-(take a walk or run with family)

C. Recycle, Buy recycled Products (paper, plastic eat.)

D. Join a wildlife rescue website, just type in “rescue websites for polar bears” or any other animal you wish to help into google, ask, or yahoo

E. Cut back on Shower time

* By doing any number of these things you are helping save or Polar bears and our Planet, after all we are all connected.
