Recycling at Home

Make it a habit to reuse things all around your house. Save the environment, and your money.

In this day and age, we’re all looking for ways to save.  At the same time, more and more people are increasing their concerns for the planet.  Recycling has been a great concept for a while, but one can argue that it does not seem like people are really doing all they can.  Here are some tips and ideas to help you start saving in your own home.

Reuse Plastic Bags

Okay, I realize that plastic bags are already a bad thing right now.  Increasingly, stores are starting to have customers pay for them!  Yet, we often wind up with some of these bags.  Instead of getting home and just throwing them out, reuse them.
Collect your plastic bags and keep them in a designated place (away from children and pets), such as a pantry or closet.  They don’t take up much space and will be there when you need them.  Keep a few in your car to collect any garbage.  Do the same thing in your home, as well.  When garbage day comes around, put your little bits of garbage in the bags and throw them out.
You can also use the bags to carry things with you, like food to work, a pair of shoes to change into, etc.

Use Plastic Containers Instead of Plastic Bags

You probably can reuse plastic bags if you really like, but it’s easier to wash and reuse plastic containers for food, or anything else you need to carry.  Most are inexpensive and are a good “investment” to make.

Use Microfiber Cloths Instead of Paper Towels

You can only use a paper towel so much.  Microfiber cloths can be washed and do the job just the same, if not better.

Print On Both Sides of Paper

If you print out something that isn’t right don’t send it right to the trash yet!  If it’s not something that’s very important that you need to print (like school work), then simply reuse the paper.  It shouldn’t go to waste just for that!  You also can print on both sides for important documents as well, just make sure you do it correctly!

Invest in a Water Bottle

You don’t have to just put water in it.  It saves you the cost of buying individual water bottles, for one.

These are just some ideas to hopefully spark your mind for new ideas to help save the environment and your money.  Feel free to share your own ideas and tips in the comments!
