Reduce Violence on Animals
We can all reduce animal suffering by becoming vegetarian.
Watch Earthlings, it’s a documentary that show the way animals are slaughtered, how milk and eggs are obtained in an unethical way amongst other things.
for the other information, the ingredients in the back of many food packages suffices, for example flip over your cheese packet and you’ll find rennet there..
if you look at domestic breeds and wild breeds of the same species you’ll see the difference in their physiology, they’ve been “engineered” to provide for us in a more efficient way, domesticated cows, chickens, turkeys, sheep and all these other animals are very different from their wild cousins.
for other things, I compiled this list a long time ago, using various sources as well as taking a lot of this information from other people, whenever possible ill try to post some here soon enough, but rest assured there is factual basis behind all of them
Reducing violence (hinsa) on animals
Reducing violence
how to reduce hinsa(violence)
Before the moderators/owner decides to delete this, please take this into consideration. I’m not inciting anyone to convert to vegetarianism, I am not even here to delineate the health benefits of vegetarianism, I am here to do nothing of that sort. This is ONLY INFORMATIVE, for the ones who are ALREADY VEGETARIANS/VEGANS, as well as those who want to reduce the incidence of violence(hinsa) on animals, and I strongly feel they might be interested in knowing these things, I think some of these facts might be unfamiliar and educational and we must all if not adhere, at least have the right to share this information
As Hindus, we are taught to show compassion to all living beings, please let those interested read this
Ice Creams
they usually contain gelatin. Gelatin is a translucent, colorless, brittle, nearly tasteless solid substance, extracted from the collagen inside animals’ skin and bones. Ironically, the Gelato brand of ice cream DOES NOT contain gelatin (funny, yes… but true!)
Certain Tooth Pastes
It is said to contain animal bone powder. so this is one kind of ahimsa that the manufacturer kills some animals to use its bone to form its powder and then to use it in tooth paste to be sold in the market.
Leather (Belts, Wallets, Shoes, Clothing, Bags, etc.)
These leather products that we use in our day to day life are clearly made from the animal skin and the funny (sad) part is we only favour (or demand) leather made belts and wallets in the shops so that they stay for longer time with us. We just at that moment neglect the fact that innocent animals are killed, and their skin is dried out and tanned for us to make shoes and belts out of.

I don’t think people have the knowledge to make decisions in accordance with their feelings sometimes. It’s like we have to DIG and investigate sometimes. This was so well written and informative.
