Rising Sea Levels

Ultra Violet radiation and global warming are factors that contribute to rising sea levels and ice caps melting. Most people do not pay enough attention to the risk of this, and it should be in everybody’s interest to try and help reduce the risk of something disastrous to happen to our planet. Some people think that the issue is a long time away from them, so they would be long dead when something starts happening, but the issue should not be ignored like this. Some even think global warming and climate change are myths, but this is certainly not so.

According to a graph measuring sea levels and time, sea level rise has risen to 200 mm change since 1880, and is expected to rise at a faster rate as times goes. Currently, the mean is 1.8 mm per year, which is no way the rate 200 years ago.

This also means, as mentioned, that the mean level increase will definitely get higher and this will be disastrous. Ice melting is the main reason sea levels are so high. When ice is heated, the particles will separate from each other slowly, eventually changing into water, then into gas.

When all of the ice is melted, it will have to slowly turn into gas, and if the earth still exists when all the ice is melted, many beaches will be destroyed (20 FEET of rise when only the artic is melted) as well as some cities like shanghai, home to 40 million, and around it, as well as all of Australia except mountains, and Florida will be completely under. The temperature will keep getting higher and higher. Australia is close to Antarctica, so we will be one of the first to see the rise. Water can only be turned into gas at 100 degrees, so this is no good news for swimmers and marine life. The amount of water evaporated will change, creating fierce storms, resulting in human death and destruction.

The heat will also cause metal expansion that can destroy buildings. The heat will kill animals, burn down trees, and with the trees and sea all gone, there would be nothing to capture the carbon dioxide greenhouse gasses before they reach the ozone layer. After that, all humans could not possibly live on the planet, and the hope of finding a new one, or even finding a way to transport people there, are nearly impossible.

So, the only way to stop this from happening is to try and prevent it from happening with our help. It will seem that one will not be able to help the environment, but if everybody thinks this, nobody would do anything. The fact that people think that global warming is a myth, or others will help, but one cant do anything is WRONG, as one can make a big difference if they get others involved. Millions of people have died, and people don’t want to see what’s next. If it happens, we wont be able to do anything about it, and the world and all 6 billion people, much more in the future, will die because of a thing that could have been easily prevented years ago.
