Take a Look Around
An eye opener to how badly our environment is being treated, and what you can do to help out.
What would we do without a planet? It’s hard to imagine, but if everyone keeps up what they are doing, it’s a possibility. There would be no trees, no water, no land and most importantly, no people. If all this pollution, forestry, and animal cruelty continues, who knows where the world will be in one hundred years from now.
Pollution is waste. It causes greenhouse gases, which eat away at the ozone layer. The ozone layer is an invisible protective barrier that surrounds earth, keeping out the bad and keeping in the good. Without the ozone layer, no one would be able to survive. Pollution is also a health risk for many people. Breathing in toxic chemicals is defiantly unhealthy. There are things that people can do to help, but they either choose not to, or just don’t know how. If a vehicle must be driven, try carpooling. This is where many people drive together in the same vehicle, instead of each taking a separate one. If only a few blocks needs to be traveled than try riding a bicycle, a scooter, or even walking. None of those choices are difficult or very time consuming, and not only will they be better for the environment, but also beneficial for ones health.
Another huge issue is that people are constantly cutting down trees. Do they really know what they are doing to our environment? Some probably do, some probably don’t. Trees are a source of oxygen, for the whole world. Yes, some trees must be cut down to create houses, paper and other things of that sort that are needed for living. But many logging companies and everyday people have gone a bit overboard. The world’s largest source of oxygen comes from the Amazon forest. Many of the logging companies know this, but still want to cut it down. Not only would we lose valuable air to breathe, but there are plants in that forest which can cure diseases and other medical problems. Some scientists believe that the cure for cancer is in that forest. Helping the forests is a simple task that anyone can do in there own homes. Recycling paper is the number one thing a person can do. If everyone recycled their paper, than less trees would have to be cut down to create new paper. The same can be done with plastics and other things such as that. It is a simple task that won’t take much time out of your day. Instead of reaching for the garbage can, just reach for the recycling bin.
