The Canadians
The Canadians are a virtual Rock-Band. The question PETA asks: how to get young Rock´n´Roll Fans attention to see what the Canadians are doing by killing seals. Though it is said to be “virtual” – a real band “Blackend White” performance in Berlin, at the Art-Directors Club on, Apr 24 2009 a great show for the audience. Peta and Peta2 was really glad.
The idea is: How can PETA get the attention of young people, especially Rock´n´Rollers to the horrifying things the canadians do to the seals. The answer from a german advertising-agency “Springer und Jacobi, Hamburg” (http://www.sj.com/) for the question PETA come with was amazing and simple.
“Let us create a virtual Rock-Band. Lets send them on Tour worldwide. Let us put them on MTV. Let us make a facebook-site with them (http://www.myspace.com/thecanadians).” Remember: Purely virtual – that Rock-Band NEVER EVER exists in Reality.
But the great Video (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=53343999) and the really good presswork done by the agency and PETA finally brings the minister of fishery in canada down.
The protest reached over 30.000.000 Million young people globally.
A REALLY big, big success.
The Campaign was presented on Apr 24, 2009 in Berlin at the Art-Directors-Club of Germany as one of the most creative and most popular campaign within the last year.
