The Captivating World of Flowers
Needless to say, the world of flowers is indeed captivating. They are nature’s paintings and are symbols of beauty, love, and inspiration.
Flowers are among nature’s greatest gifts to mankind. They represent beauty. They contribute to ecological balance. They can also sweeten our relationships and make our stay on Mother Earth worthwhile.
Appreciation for flowers should not be labeled as merely a feminine thing. Although there are remarkable parallels between an adorable woman and an attractive flower, men should not shy away from being avid flower fans. In fact, the love for life, love, and nature is embodied by the famous MALE singer Louis Armstrong in the classic song that goes, ” I see trees of green, red roses too, I see them bloom for me and you…And I think to myself, what a wonderful world…”
As we already mentioned, flowers play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. The main function of a flower is to process the union of a male sperm and female ovum in order to produce seeds. These seeds are vital to the continuous process of reproducing plants, which are major sources of food for many species of living things on earth.
Flowers also play an important part in mankind’s social affairs. There are various types of flowers appropriate for each event or occassion. No wedding, formal celebration, or any other remarkable social gathering is ever complete without flowers — they are always used as symbols of beauty.
Flowers can also be used to convey different messages beyond words. Giving flowers to someone can be used as a gesture of love, respect, comfort, friendship, or gratefulness. The most important thing is that the giver should give sincerely, because the message or meaning is not in the flower itself; it resides in the heart of the one who gives it.
Knowing the importance of flowers, we must take conscious effort to preserve these wonderful gifts of nature. This environmental idea might sound irrelevant in a modern world that continuously seeks for technological advancement, but as human beings we have a responsibility to preserve the flowers and plants in our surroundings. We only have one nature, one Earth to live in. We may never be able to replace it once it’s gone.
