The KARS System (aka Get Drunk the Cheapest Way Possible)
A way of knowing your limits, along with finding ways to become intoxicated the cheapest way possible.
As someone who doesn’t like to spend a lot of money, I have come up with a system. The KARS system is a system I developed recently to get the cheapest alcohol that you can.
The math is simple, yet ingenious.
Convert your volume into ounces. Common ones are 375 ml = 13 ounces, 750 ml = 26 ounces. Multiply the ounce by the % alcohol, and then divide by the cost in dollars.
Your value will range between 20-120. Something that has a KARS value of 100 will cost you half as much to become intoxicated as a KARS value of 50.
Example.
I bought a bottle of cheap cooking wine for $7.50. It is 750 ml, which translates into 26 ounces. Its 20% alcohol. (26 ounces x 20% alcohol)/($7.50) = 69 1/3 oz%/$ or, a KARS. So it has a value of roughly 69 KARS. Pretty solid stuff, thats a good night right there for only $7.50.
Most beers run between 40 and 50, same with hard liquors. However, mickeys (13 ounces) are a rip-off. Never buy mickeys. The lowest denomination you should get is a 26er. Just split it with a friend. Below is a chart with some common examples.

The system is great your realizing how much you are drinking and knowing your limits, along with finding the cheapest ways that you can become intoxicated. This system is especially useful for poor college students.
Here is a calculator for your benefit. Its very simple, you type in the info you have, and voila.
If you want to discuss how good an alcohol is, you tell them the KARS value. Example
“Man, this isn’t that bad, how much did it cost?”
“It’s got a KARS value of 17 man, I only drink it for special occasions.”
OR
“Man, this stuff is horrible, must be really cheap wine.”
“Yeah man, but it has a KARS value of 76. I can’t pass that up.”
The most important thing to know is to drink responsibly. This system will also help with that, because you can find what the true alcohol unit is, when you multiply the volume by the percentage.
Enjoy, and be safe!
