The Truth Behind Working at Walmart (Part 2)

The second portion of my walmart articles.

I walked into my Walmart store in Oklahoma when it started. Whenever I woke up this morning and saw that there was no bologna in the refrigerator I immediately grabbed my car keys and headed to the store. To me, Walmart is convenient because it is only a six minute drive from my house. That is why I work there. So I walk in to get my lunch meat and see one of my co-workers over in the produce section. He has never really liked me ever since I got there. I didn’t say a word and just started toward the meat department. As I was walking past him I heard him laughing about me. I walked up to him and asked what was so funny. He just laughed, looked at me, and called me a fruitcake. The word may look funny whenever you read it on paper but whenever you are being called it personally, it really hurts. I didn’t do anything to deserve this. The guy has always thought he is better than everybody else just because he drives a Corvette. The saddest part about the whole situation is that he said this whenever I was off the clock, which makes me a customer.I think it is really funny how we are considered the friendliest store in our area when my own co-workers are making fun of me whenever I’m off the clock. If they can do that when I’m not working, I shiver to think about what they do to our actual customers. I’m not the only person who has had a problem with Walmart’s service. usatoday.com states that walmart was sued 4,851 times in the year 2000. There is a famous case that happened in Brownsville, Texas, where an actual judge sued the Sam’s club, and Walmart for bad customer service, which led to an altercation, which led to his arrest. The story goes that a judge was at a Sam’s club in Brownsville, Texas, buying some diamond earrings for his wife. As the cashier was ringing up the earrings, he or she questioned the judge about them. The judge, however, didn’t like this and he yelled back. Police came up and escorted him out of the store and he was arrested because Sam’s filed a police report saying that the judge had used  disorderly conduct and said he was making terroristic threats. Because of this allegation, the judge was not only arrested but was also sentenced to two weeks in a mental health facility. After two weeks, he was released. A few days later, however, his family and friends felt like he had worrisome behavior and put him back in a second mental hospital. He was diagnosed bipolar. After his release the second time, the judge sued Sam’s club and Walmart for filing a false police report, negligence, false imprisonment, and a couple of other things. When police asked the manager that was named in the suit, the manager told police that he did not remember the altercation and was not aware that a police report had even been filed. This story can be found on consumerist.com.  Okay, first things first. Firstly, if you have a man arrested in your store who is making terroristic threats,’ I am pretty sure you will remember who he is. Secondly, the employee’s have no right to question anybody about a purchase they are making. This is just one of many cases filed against Walmart. The saddest part about this is that all of these cases could have been avoided. If Walmart would make sure that their employee’s were treating their customers right, they could continue to be the biggest corporation in America. But if they continue to let their employee’s mistreat customers, everything will soon come crashing down before their very eyes, it is just a matter of time.
