Tiger Photo Gallery

The year of tiger is quickly approaching and with every new generation, it brings these marvelous wild animals, one step closer to the brink of extinction. In memory of the tiger I present this digital photo gallery featuring 20 stunning, images of captive breed tigers.

Only a century has passed and the number of wild tigers has dropped from almost 100,000 to and estimated population of 3,200 wild tigers. The devious actions of a whole culture bent on the consummation of these beautiful big cats is leading to there extinction.

To think people kill these amazing animals, just for there body parts. All for the purpose, of showing there wealthy  status. Although traditional Chinese use of tiger parts as a medicine has dropped. A hideous new tradition of giving tiger body parts as gifts is on the steady rise.

With 2010 being the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac. The wild tiger faces, new festive demands for there skin and body parts. Which will ultimatly lead to poachers, hunting the remaining population of wild tigers.

The irresponsibility and ignorance of and entire culture, feasting upon such a marvelous animal, until it’s extinction is nothing short of geneocide. The demand for tiger parts, has not gone down since the international treaty banning there trade.

The illicit trade of tiger body parts is still flourishing even growing, due in part to the rise in price and the decline of the species. The wild tiger is projected to go extinct within the next five years. It is a sad time, for an animal that is considered by it’s killers to be a symbol of power and luck.

The power of the tiger is unmatched, but it’s luck is quickly running out. I do not know how a society could live with them selves, knowing in the end there the sole cause of the destruction of the wild tiger.

The ignorance of others has lead to an overwhelming need to preserve the tiger species and even with preservation the ideology of a culture has taken it upon itself to murder captive breed tigers for sale an trade.

China has 14 tiger farms, across it’s country with and estimated 6,000 captive tigers producing around 1,000 cubs annually. And to think becausethey set up such farms, they should be able to sell and trade tiger parts.

Since the international ban on the sale and trade of tiger parts, China has been trying to push and agreement that will allow them to harvest body parts and skins from there captive breed tiger population.

China and Asia need to stop killing tigers, period. All demand for tiger skins and body parts, need to be eradicated. The ban on the sale of tiger parts needs to go further, anyone found with parts or skins of a tiger needs to be jailed and fined a heavy fee comparable to the cost of the tiger parts they were selling or trying to buy.

The lack of education has brought about this tragedy. The exticiton of the wild tiger is upon us and without the right education the tiger will be doomed. The people that continue to purchase tiger products, lack the basic understanding, that when there gone, there gone forever.
