Time to Make a Change

 Pollution is becoming a serious problem in our world. Scientists have already confirmed that it causes global warming, a very real danger. We can’t just keep pretending that our choices will not affect the world around us. The ozone layer that protects our planet is being depleted. We are sabotaging ourselves by reducing our defense against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, a direct link to the increase in severe weather along with other major issues, like health problems. Pollution doesn’t only harm our planet, it harms us as well. Mexico city; once known for it’s refreshing air quality, now known for it’s smog-saturated brown sky. Studies have shown that pollution is taking its toll on the urban population, from irritation to critical sickness, and even to premature death. But why should we care about pollution? It’s not like we’ll be around to witness its full effects, right? That’s exactly the problem; we act as if there isn’t one, which is where money comes into the picture. Luckily, the prices of gas are rising, and more people are finding less expensive means of transportation that the leading air pollutant, the car. Don’t you think that our world, our health, and our money are important enough to sway our lifestyles? Should we not be concerned with our futures, and the futures of our children? There are times when things are fine the way they are, and there are times when we need to make changes. It’s time to make a change.
