Types of Alternative Fuel

There are many ways of using alternative fuels and energies. This will explain a few of the newly discovered possible different types of fuel we could using instead.

Electric Cars

These cars produce virtually no carbon omissions into our atmosphere. They work off a central power grid just like your light bulb. The only draw back of these cars is the mileage of the vehicle and speed at which it travels. Just like any thing that runs off rechargeable batteries the faster you go the more energy it uses. The speed limits are set on the roads so this would bring down the accident numbers on our roads, we all know that the faster we go the more likely we are to die in an accident .

Solar Energy

Solar energy is a great way of storing energy they take the light from the sun and store the energy it creates in battery packs in a storage shed. These produce enough energy to power a house from one end of the year to another. The main problem with this source of energy is the price of the technology. Governments are funding a scheme in most countries especially Europe to reduce the cost of this technology, making it affordable to more of the public, I can see this being a way forward in the future.

Spray on Solar Panels

Spray on solar panels is a paint like substance that uses a thin layer of silicon nitrate that is an anti-reflective agent used to boost cell efficiency. This technology is only discovered and doesn’t come at a reasonable price, only the super rich can afford this technology. Maybe they cant justify it either but the makers are still working on it.

New Jet Fuels

NASSA and eleven other research groups have found a new way of keeping jets in the air using a non petroleum based fuel. They have found a way to use coal and natural gas using the FISCHER-TROPSCH method. This method brought around two new discoveries that they are still working on to reduce the cost and supply problems. One of these methods have already taken flight in 2008 a Trans Atlantic flight and was a success.

Californian Power Towers

Power towers are fields of mirrors that are all angled to the top of a power tower as they are called. These power towers have a receptor on them that take the light from the mirrors and turn it into energy. The main problem is space for these fields and the big risk of vandals destroying them. If it is a dull day they wont be able to power the same amount of homes as it did on a clear day.

Interesting article. Having gone through my own alternative energy phase, I would say that each of these sources has its merits, but does not work like the electricity delivered to our homes commercially.

In these hard times, we could use some resourcefulness and creativity. This is a useful piece. Thanks.
