Of the wastes that end up in your waste bin, try to look at it. You may, for example see fruit peelings, your rotten oranges in your refrigerator, a pair of worn out slippers, an old hairbrush and some plastic bags. The statistics about the condition our waste disposal has become alarming! It was found out that America alone produces nearly 280 tons per year. It is estimated that each people will produce 4.30 pounds of waste per day. And because we are estimated to grow in number in the next decade, it is also expected that our wastes will pile up which means that there will be more environmental problems to come and are waiting for solutions.

We may think that we have get rid of our wastes already when the garbage truck arrives but the sad thing is that wastes are just simply transported to another place possibly in a landfill or an incinerator. If we have only followed the advice of some that recycling and segregation are the best way, maybe our waste disposal problem will not get worse. Of the things, you know what is biodegradable and can be saved and non-biodegradable that can not be saved but can still be recycled! How about making a compost from your accumulated rotten fruits and fruit peelings. The compost detoxifies bacteria from rotten things and making them part of the environment again. Many farmers are in fact using organic fertilizers from their composts. You can make it, too in your backyard. For your pair of worn out slippers and your plastic hair brush, you can collect them and go to the nearest garbage shop and sell them. Well, the price may not be that huge but you will get a positive feeling after knowing that you have done your part in saving our environment.
