Why We Should Educate People on Controlling the Pet Population

A short essay on why it is best to try and control the pet population.

As many Americans know, the canine and feline population has been increasing drastically and we need to begin controlling it. Education will helps control this issue because it helps people understand what happens to the many pets that are not taken in because they are not wanted.

Educating people on the facts of how overpopulation affects not only the dog itself but the local city if the dog is let go to run in the streets which could cause damage to other dogs, cats, other small animals, and even humans. If a door cat happens to get hit in the street it can cause expensive damage to the vehicle that hit it. Education will help people understand that even though it cost money to get your animal spayed or neutered, it is best to do so unless you have a good home for all the puppies or kittens it might have.

A good place to get information on the overpopulation of cats and dogs is your local veterinarian office. There are also many websites that provide facts on overpopulation such as Idausa.org: Overpopulation Facts or Animalkind.org: Pet Overpopulation. These websites provide facts on what causes overpopulation and some of the ways you can help prevent it. If you do not find enough facts or you want to know more you can always go to your local veterinarian who can tell you a lot and can also provide you with pamphlets on the subject.

Information on this subject will definitely help people understand the severity of taking care of this problem. If enough people are educated on this, then we can help control the population of cats and dogs and hopefully end it.
