Wind Energy
More on alternative energy.
Wind power is the conversion of wind energy to electricity or other useful forms of power. As of right now wind energy comprises around one percent worldwide electricity but has increased by five times since 2000. An early form of wind energy was that of the sails on ships to propel them through the sea. Another prime example is a wind mill to create mechanical energy. This form of energy is favored by environmentalists because of it has no adverse effects. The real problem of wind energy is at our current technology it is far too expensive to feasibly power an entire continent. This is one of the reasons why wind energy has yet to catch fire among energy producers. Although there are current limits the outlook on wind energy is great because of the abundance of places where I can be built.
An estimated 21% of the available wind energy world wide is being consumed right now. The strength of wind is its diverse area of availability. Most wind energy is created in short bursts as the wind gusts. This causes wind energy to be very unpredictable and can never truly be relied upon until technology advances.
As the world becomes even shorter on fossil fuel and natural gas we will have to become more depending on such technologies as wind power. It may take some getting used to and it will call for new technology. The positives out way the negatives so much that the advancement of wind power is imperative to the success of further generations. Wind technology of today is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to potential energy output.
