10 Easy Ways to Get Happy
Feeling a little down in the dumps? Try these tips on for size and feel the happiness start flowing.
1. Compliment someone else. It could be a stranger who’s style you love or a colleague who’s really put in a big effort at work. Whoever it is your compliment will make them feel great and you feel even better. Remember happiness is contagious, so go out and spread some.
2. Do something that brings back memories of when you were really happy as a kid. It could be something simple like eating lollies or watching a favourite movie, or even a day out at a fun park. Whatever it is your bound to feel better afterwards.
3. Vent. Talk out your problems with a friend or write a ranting blog post. Getting out all your worries and problems will make you feel so much lighter, as though a weight has been lifted.
4. Pamper yourself. Have a spa day or just have a relaxing bath. Taking some time to treat yourself to a little relaxation will calm you down and make you more open to happiness.
5. Go for a run. It will clear your head and reduce stress.
6. Try something you wouldn’t normally. Accept an invite to a party you weren’t sure about or sign up to a class you think sounds interesting. The more we open ourselves up to new things the more chances we have of finding happiness.
7. Treat yourself to something you’ve had your eye on. While retail therapy won’t bring lasting happiness it can be just the thing to get you out of a slump.
8. Laugh out loud. Watch a funny movie or look up some jokes online and laugh til it hurts. Laughter reduces stress and makes us feel more relaxed.
9. If your sad about something don’t bottle it up. A good cry can do wonders, releasing all the negative emotions you’ve been holding on to.
10. Listen to the happiest, most up-beat music you can think of and dance around your house to it. You might feel a bit silly at first but you’ll definitely be happier by the time the play-list is over.
