10 Things to Do When You are Bored

Ever find yourself bored with nothing to do, or even if you have something to do. These ideas work best when you can’t make up your mind on what you should do.

NUMBER  1  Waiting

You could always wait for something to do or wait for something to happen. Wait for a bus or just stand in a random line and wait for no reason. You spend most of your life waiting for something anyway, so you may as well get it out of the way while your bored.

NUMBER  2  Twiddling Your Thumbs

You might as well because you have nothing else to do anyway. Did you know twiddling your thumbs burns off 300 calories, its a perfect exercise for fat or lazy people or people just wanting to keep their weight down or under control.

NUMBER  3  Stare Into Nothingness

Pick a spot and stare at it until you think of something to do. Everybody stares into nothingness in fact you spend a week of your life staring into space. You could be waiting in line twiddling your thumbs and staring at the back of somebodys head. A great way of killing three birds with one stone.

Number  4  Tap Your Foot

Tapping your foot is another way of burning up calories believe it or not. You burn up twice as many calories than twiddling your thumbs in the same given time frame. Another great way of exercise for the lazy, tapping your foot can build up your muscles in your legs, great for basketball players for improving their jumping skills.

NUMBER  5  Think Of Something That you Can’t Remember

Thinking of something that you can’t remember is a great way of killing time. The harder you think the less chance you have of remembering it, but it will frustrate you so I recommend twiddling your thumbs to keep the stress levels down. 25% is how much of your life you can’t remember, the older you get doesn’t matter because the percentage stays the same its just the content that increases.

NUMBER  6  Plant A Tree Or A Plant

Take a spade and go to a neighbours garden and dig up a plant or a tree, replant it in the garden adjacent to the house you took it from. Doing this will bring you great pleasure and cure your boredom. Watch from your house as the neighbour discovers that their plant has after been moved across the road. Watch the investigation unfold. If you are still bored you can get involved in the investigation, and help bring a resolution or a explanation to the crisis.

NUMBER  7  Contemplate

Pick two things you really want to do and measure them up against each other. Try and justify doing one thing over the other and just pick neither.

NUMBER  8  Call Up A Complete Stranger

Pick up the phone book and call a random stranger and tell them you have nothing to do, more often than not you will find they are not doing anything either otherwise they wouldn’t be able to answer the phone. A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet so you might as well introduce yourself.

NUMBER  9  Do Something That You Know You Cant Do

Take apart a television set or a stereo and try to put it back together again and make it work. I have only managed to do this successfully once out of the five times i have done it. It will frustrate you and tapping your foot and twiddling your thumbs are recommended for this exercise, you will also find yourself staring into nothingness. You will have to contemplate calling a stranger, waiting and try to think of something that you cant remember.

NUMBER  10  Read

You could always just read an article that makes no sense about ten things that will cure your boredom, just like you have done here.

Stephen you are so funny! I believe I have done most of these things. Except the replanting of the tree from the neighbor’s yard. I know I would be totally bored in Jail!! Don’t worry, things will pick up!

What a list! I don’t think I’ll try the tree planting one, though. That sounds risky. Maybe you should try gardening? Dumpster diving? Fill reams of rough drafts with looping? (Ok, I’ll admit it…I’ve been bored and broke a few times in my life.) Hang in there, Stephen.

Good job! I love number nine – that is something I would definetly do but I tend to do things like fix my car and then get halfway through it and get bored with it but I have to fix it anyway so I can keep driving it. :)
