10 Things You Should Know How to Do Before You’re 30

From How To Be A Morning Person To Perfecting The Poker Face, These Are The Things You Must Know How To Do Before Reaching The Big 3-0.

No one ever teaches you the things you really need to know, like how to save a dying party or how to look hot in photo’s. Consider this your education.

  1. Pull off an inscrutable poker face by focusing on breathing normally. Look the person in the eyes and avoid temptation to fidget. Control your face, don’t raise your eyebrows or smirk.
  2. Look hot the morning after by planning ahead. Keep cotton pads, make-up remover, eye drops and highlighter in your bag.
  3. Wake up feeling recharged, not half asleep by investing in a lamp timer. Set it to go on half an hour before your alarm. The light activates the natural chemicals that control your sleep cycles, meaning you’ll wake up alert and ready to face the day
  4. To save a party that massively blows put on some upbeat music, start introducing people left and right until people are mingling and if all else fails, ramp up the number of cocktails.
  5. To grill the perfect steak first allow the meat to come to room temperature, then coat each side with olive oil and salt and pepper. Place the meat in the centre of the barbecue and cook each side twice for 3 minutes at a time. Once it’s done set aside for a few minutes to let the juices flow before serving
  6. Keeping champagne fizzy after it’s been opened is easy. Just place a long stemmed silver spoon handle in the bottle and the bubbles will still be there tomorrow.
  7. Looking good in photo’s is an art. Smile naturally, practise good posture and look just above the camera. If you have a slight double chin tilt your head downwards and if you’re worried about your silhouette stand with one foot in front of the other.
  8. Writing a thank you note is easy. Using pretty note cards get straight to the point. Thank the person, mention how special there gift/time was and wrap it up with a mention of seeing them in the future.
  9. Being a good dinner guest is a skill everyone should master. Arrive on time, never early. Compliment the hosts on their home and the meal. Come prepared with a few funny stories but always bring it back to the hosts, it’s their night to shine.
  10. Don’t get ripped off. Learn what can be haggled over and what you should never pay full price for.
