10 Ways to Soothe Your Baby
Having a baby can be a very demanding and overwhelming experience. As much as we want to love our children, there are times when we get overly stressed and have a hard time knowing exactly what it is we are supposed to do. We tend to get overwhelmed when it seems all baby wants to do is cry incessantly.
Babies can not communicate what it is they want. You may be able to learn your baby’s signs for when they are hungry or wet, however there are other times when it can be difficult to determine what exactly it is that baby is in need of at the moment. There are many times when your child just cries for absolutely no reason at all. It is those times that you kind of lose your mind trying to figure your baby out and soothe them to end the crying.
So how can you help baby to stop crying when you are at your wits end?

The basics to start are:
- Feed baby
- Change baby
- Burp baby
If those do not work, your baby may be tired, stressed, over stimulated, or under stimulated. Here are some other things you may want to try;
Play with baby
Your child may be in need of attention. She may just want some floor time to play with her toys.
Take baby to a quiet place away from the noise
Baby could also be over stimulated and need a break from the dailies of life. He may want to relax. Babies need quiet time just as adults do.
Rock baby
You child may be sleepy. You may try rocking your child to sleep. She may need some snuggly time with you, try laying her on your chest and cuddling her for a little bit. You could also try gently swaying with your baby, or putting your child in a swing on a gentle cycle.
Pump Baby’s legs
There is a possibility that baby may just have gas. Sometimes burping does not relieve all those bubbles that can get trapped inside. You could gently pump baby’s legs as if they were riding a bicycle. This motion helps to relieve gas.
Bath
A warm soothing bath helps to calm baby down.
Massage
Use a lavender lotion and gently massage baby, this also helps soothe not only baby but you as well.
Calm down
Remember that your baby can sense when you are stressed or overwhelmed. When you are feeling that way it makes baby feel that way and babies do not know how to react to those feelings. Try not to hold baby when you are overly stressed.
Parenting is such a blessing. Be sure to enjoy every moment! Time is fleeting, and children grow up so fast.
