20 Ways to Remain Calm and be Prepared in any Situation
Tips for staying cool, calm and collected when you need to be.
- Get good nights sleep if you know beforehand what is on the agenda. If you know only hours take a power nap. The brain will be so much more ready to deal with what comes your way if you are at your best with rest.
- Eat light and right. No heavy meal before the great time of the event since at times a full stomach can cause slight discomfort. Right meaning not to go without any food. You do not want gas, reflux, or nausea which sometimes can be a result of improper or no food.
- Get yourself looking very dapper. Get your hair cut, trimmed, swoffed or whatever you need to feel perky. The look in the mirror will set you up for a calm anything. You need to be impressed with yourself for others to be also.
- Study, prepare and know something about your subject matter. Knowing shows in more than just speech. A conversation of something pertinent will get you great recognition from your primary person of interest.
- Affirm your position. Tell yourself a great self talk before the actual time of influence.
- Have a few good notes to rely on should the time be lengthier than you planned. Do not fizzle before you are finished making your stand.
- Do no look at a watch, cell phone or any device that tells you to leave. This person needs your time without any annoyance of another date or commitment
- Turn off the cell phone. If this rings, you are bacon. Tell someone to take messages for you until further notice.
- Breathe in and out deeply for a few minutes before the actual onset of the event
- Just know that nothing is permanent. Not even the prospect of this activity you are working toward. It might be great and might not be.
- You will be alright no matter what the outcome ends up being with this effort.
- Have an immediate back up, plan “B”, so you can, with a little refreshment, move to the next opportunity. Things will be fresh in your mind and this will be a great pick me up should the first chance be not the great outcome you wish it to be.
- Don’t tell too many people what you are embarking on in your life. Tell the news after it happens. Even well meaning people have a tendency to call or show up at an inappropriate time or tell you something to bring on nervousness.
- Be prompt and willingly have time to open a door or something special for a random person that might be a part of your circumstance. Being on time says volumes about how a person runs their entire life. It also will send a signal that the person you were meeting was important enough for you to honor them with being on time.
- Dress appropriately, no over dressing and avoid under dressing if possible too. Know the place and attire desired and wear what is a custom for such a time.
- Tell yourself “others have gone before me in this and have done well.” Just knowing someone else made it through successfully is a big plus for you to know.
- Practice on another person you trust or if no one like that is available, practice looking in the mirror or to yourself while walking in your residence
- Smile. This will help the flow of comfort juices to begin for you.
- Be prepared for success. This has a calming effect already built into that preparedness.
- Let yourself accept the merit of your success when attained
